Full Arcanist build, help required?

Well hello there, i played a few Grim Dawn hours now and that mostly as a Druid level 73. Im in the beginning of Ultimate and i am thinking about creating a new hero to save Crain from the Grim Dawn.

So i startet to play a bit with Grimcalc and ended up with a deep Arcanist build, now since i am not a pro in this game and i have hard times understanding the damage calculation, so i wanted to ask people who know better, if my idea would work out on Elite and Ultimate.

My biggest doubts are the missing stats from a second mastery, also if my playstile i thought would work or if i would be more dead than most of creaturs that walk around.

Using [Olexra’s Flash Freeze] and [Callidor’s Tempest] as control, [Devastation] and [Albrecht’s Aether Ray] as damage skills. The buffs would be [Maiven’s Sphere of Protection], [Reckless Power] and [Star Pact].

So basicly with this u deal fire/aether dmg but i have seen alot of builds where people go like “4/12” in many skills while im not realy sure how effective this is.

Another damage based question would be: does [Inferno] with its (12/12) “38 energy cost, 52 burn damage for 4 sec., +108% fire dmg, +70% aether dmg, 117 reduc. armor for 5 sec.” also increase the [Albrecht’s Aether Ray] in the way its writen, or does it only scale on [Callidor’s Tempest]? And if it does, does the ray also get the armor debuff?

This game got some serious skilling fetish, witch is totaly awesome.
Greetings Biuki

PS: Does the Arcanist set [The Eastern Pledge] work with [Gunslinger Talisman] and 2 fast 1handed range weapon? The Set says it has a 100% chance on attack to proc a skill that looks kind of dangerus to spam, just a little side quest.

I don’t think you can have both Reckless Power and Star Pact up at the same time. They’re exclusive skills which means only one can be used at a time. So you can either put points into both and choose when to use which or only choose one and use the other points elsewhere.

This is because builds like this take into account + bonuses to skills. Some skills scale poorly after they’re maxed so people only put the necessary amount in to max them after these bonuses are taken into account (i.e. 7/12 in X and +5 to X skill) or they 1 point a skill and have bonuses that add multiple extra points to bring it up for a low cost.

It’s not necessary but i’de start looking at gear alongside a grimcalc. I’ve found that you can save an enormous amount of points that can then be placed elsewhere for skills you didn’t plan on taking initially.

The armor debuff would effect other skills, though to my knowledge, debuffing armor will only increase physical damage which AAR does none of.

Suggestions i’ll make are:

Put points into Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange if you go AAR as you will seriously need the energy regeneration and you will have points to spare if you go Arcanist only.

I’de also put points into Elemental Balance for the extra crit chance.

1 point Arcane Will (or more if you have them spare).

1 point Nullification. Nullification will prove incredibly useful for dispelling the numerous hero buffs. Seriously, it’s more useful than you think when you consider how many buffs there are and what they do, a list is here underneath “Hero Monsters”: http://www.grimdawn.com/guide/gameplay/monsters.php.

As medea mentioned, you can’t have Reckless Power and Star Pact active at the same time, you’re taking a lot of Aether/Fire skills so you’ll always want Reckless Power active. Take Star Pact’s points out and move them elsewhere.
