So this would be the first proper build theorycraft I’ve done in this game. I had a look and I hadn’t seen any melee dual wield Elementalist builds so once I feel comfortable with this I would like to do a proper guide for it.
I’m not 100% knowledgeable on the end game stuff like Nemesis bosses and Mogdrogen or Ultimate as a whole. That’s why I would like some more knowledgeable input on this build before I try and write up anything official.
So far I’ve gotten a blank 85 character and used the GDStash tool to experiment with some items to see if this would even work at all. I’ve only run around a bit on ultimate doing the warden, Swarm Queen Ravna and just general killing whatever I see across all acts to see how I could stand up against them, and if I just got annihilated. I was happy to see I was able to stand pretty solidly once I got my resistances sorted a bit. I’m still sure there is room for improvement however.
I haven’t done any of the Crucible as it’s not content I play much.
The Idea:
The build is based around using primarily Fire and Lighting with a small bit of Physical and Chaos as by-products from gear and devotions. I wanted to do a dual wield version of this mastery combination. I’ve been sitting here for days now unable to settle on a build I enjoyed that other people had made, so I thought about what I thought would be cool and fun to play. This is what I came up with.
It isn’t a build with a lot of buttons to press, but there’s loads of lighting and fire exploding around the screen which is good enough for me. It’s not a super tanky build either, but if I wanted to be reliably tanky I would use a shield.
Screen shot of stats and resistances (all attribute points went into Physique):
Some more screenshots of stats in case it’s helpful.
Gear I’m currently using (May not be BiS. As mentioned before I’m not that knowledgeable about end game things. This is just gear I noticed had the stats I was looking for):
The components I’m using currently are all for my resistances. Aether, Bleed, Pierce and Poison/Acid are the ones I’ve had to use components for. Without them the damage would be too much from those damage types for my totem or devotions to out-heal me on.
Try to fix Aether, Chaos, Vitality via augment as a first priority. (cuz it is easiest way, so you can have some space available for ring augment&component.)
poison and pierce for second.
Combination of relic and medal
It can be base DW by “Blademaster talisman + other medals” or “Direwolf crest medal + Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm relic” (you may test it out yourself)
[If your’re insufficient in skill points, I recommend to use Direwolf+Pyroclasm to get +1 all demo]
The rings you use are odd, There’re many good rings those can fix your resistance and give some essential bonus to your char.
The independent gear left is pants, gloves and boots. I recommend if you’ve enough bonus skills and your primary dmg type(fire&lightning) go beyond 1000%. It is not necessary for getting more by some small %bonus from your gear with losing resistance as a trade off. [This is why green pants and boot with specific prefix and suffix are popular]
Spend the rest combination of pants, gloves and boots for some stats you’re lacking of. like OA(about 2500+ is recommend), resistance, disable time reduction(stun, freeze, etc.), and you should also figure out how to regain heath in battle to survive.
Some builds may tanky without shield by having good management about kill time, regain health method, CC(mostly reliable with fumble things), circuit breaker things.
PS. you may try dmg conversion gear too, it is interesting to convert some dmg source to another that you may focus in. Like spark of ultos can convert cold to lightning or warpfire can convert cold to fire.
Oh man why you missed Thermite mines. The parameter that can massively increase dmg further after you get yourself buff over 1000% is Resistance Reduction(RR)
I recommend you to study and searching more about this topic. Here
My recommend is Getting
full of Flashbang and searing light. (It HELP A LOT, you can be tanky as f**k)
Thermite mines at least -40% both lightning and fire (it is the most efficient point to invest in, further lv is your choice)
get 1 wind devil and full Raging tempest for MORE RR
If want more tanky, getting 1 BWC and 1 to its transmute[high potency]
take out the points from least efficient skill (like ulzuin’s wrath and ultimate lv of some skills like Stormcaller’s pact because it gives you only DoT bonus dmg.)
About devotion
Use it to fix Health pool, resistance and further dmg output parameter.
I recommend
Viper(for RR amp.)
Sailor’s guide (for slow&freeze reduction)
Hawk (it is most efficient 3 point to increase OA)
may take Oklaine’s Lantern if you change your weapon to scepter or dagger
I was looking at direwolf but the stats on it, outside of the abilty to dual wield and the pierce resistance, didn’t feel like they helped the build much. Is this the better choice in your opinion just so Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm can be used?
Firstly you can’t focus on Fire and Lightning at the same time (well you can it’s just not very optimal)
For Lightning only-
Your OA is low
Your DA is low
Your weapon is the wrong one, that one fits Static Strike builds
In an elementalist, Savagery would be much better imo since you have fuck-tons of flat Electrocute damage and for that an Exalted Dagger is much better.
Your AS is abysmally low for a DW build
Your don’t need Brimstone with Lightning as the focus
Your point investment into Flashbang is too low
You have no RR through Themites
You don’t need Blood Pact
You have no RR in devotions
You don’t need Ghoul
For Fire only-
Pretty much most points are same
You just don’t need to go 100% into shaman for fire focus.
In fact i don’t even think shaman is the best way to got fire route. I think a Sabo should be better or a Pyromancer
It is a choice for increasing skill points to spend and can solve low piercing resistance. [There’re other gear can fix and get the old combination tho. but Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm procs is very interesting in fire&lightning build too]
You’re lacking of Pierce resistance and I’d say only blast shield can’t cover it all the time. Active for 4 secs then waiting for 8. That gap is long enough to get you burst to death. (Even all res. up to 80% can still burst down quickly in mobs)
In term of increasing skill points. Relic can give +1 to all skils in a class, but medal can only +2,+3 in some skills)
If you’re lacking of skill points. Using +1 to all skills in … is better. If your build add Thermite mine = +11 skills points in demo.
I suggest from devotion it is hard and waste many points and skills is something separate from each other, but using the gear with +%elemental dmg is pretty good choice too. If cannot go well from only skills&devotion, so lets fix it up by gear LOL. Cheer
Get the RR for both types (i think you have to skip one of the RRs i can’t remember my now dead setup) and then get leviathan. Use Warpfire + Ultos and you have a working Fire+Lightning T-3 Constellation called Leviathan
I tried it with SS Spam, it felt too gimmicky so i returned the build to its original state.
Also that setup feels even less viable thanks to Belgothian nerf
I would love if Necromancer has a new Default Attack that support Vitality, Life Leech and Cold
