Super Meat Boy is one of the hardest platformers I have EVER played. Get it if you want a challenge.

Yeah I just scooped up the Humble Bundle 4 myself. It’s totally worth it for Super Meat Boy and Shank alone. Cave Story is awesome, everyone knows that already, but you can play that game for free, though I’m not sure how much plus is in Cave Story+, I guess I’ll find out.

I bought the HB4 deal too, mainly because a couple friends are playing Gratuitous Space Battles already, but Shank reminds me of Castle Crashers in playstyle and I have been dying to play CC on PC but its not available. This bundle also comes with the Soundtrack to Jamestown which I thought was a nice bonus. And these games do look fun, I will be playing GSB right after I finish Unwritten Tales lol, too many game deals

Heh, tell me about it. And Steam Christmas Sale is coming soon too…

There is a “Daily wishlish giveaway” on Steam, if it suits this thread. Check it out.

503 on Steam, which means that the server is being pounded, on day 1 of the xmas sales…

Was about to get a Bunch of Heroes 4-pack for the kids and JustCause2 for me (in the event that someday I get around to win7). Anyone ever play Bunch of Heroes? It does not look like a super game, but I think the kids will enjoy it.

Also, BFE is down to 29 from 39 and still no 4-pack. Really wonder if they will further drop the price on serious sam closer to xmas or if I will have to shell out ~90 to get 3 copies.

Steam seems to have cleared up for me now… I’ll probably be picking up the Bunch of Heroes for 2.49 and Max Payne 2… but I’m looking for opinions on Singularity, Fable III, and The Next BIG Thing… Any recommendations anyone?

Oh and to run through today’s deals…

Singularity - $7.49 (75% off)
Sam & Max Franchise (75% off) - $7.49 for season 1 or 2; $8.74 for season 3; $12.49 for all three seasons together
Max Payne (75% off) - $2.49 individually; $3.74 for both
Portal (75% off) - Portal 1 - $2.49; Portal 2 - $7.49; both Portals - $8.74
Fable III - $12.49 (75% off) - There is also a Fable package with The Lost Chapters and the DLC for Fable III for $19.99
Just Cause Franchise (75% off) - Just Cause - $3.74; Just Cause 2 - $4.99; All DLC 75% or 76% off
Amnesia: The Dark Descent - $4.99 (75% off)
Bunch of Heroes - $2.49 (75% off)
Rift - $7.49 (75% off)
Orcs Must Die - $3.49 (75% off)
Pendulo Studio’s Adventure Pack - $12.49 (75% off) - includes the three Runaway adventures and The Next BIG Thing… each also available for 75% off ($2.49 to $7.49)
Metro 2033 - $4.99 (75% off)

For personal recommendations, I’d highly recommend the two Just Cause games and the Portal games… I also enjoyed Max Payne, Metro 2033 for shooters. Sam and Max are good. And the first Runaway was a surprisingly pleasant surprise since I didn’t think I’d like it but actually found it to be a quite decent adventure game.

that’s probably just to download it, right ?
you still have to pay $15 per month

I was in the STWOR beta and I thought it was tons more fun than Rift

of course, I only played Rift for a month long time ago and then quit and I only did the beta for SWTOR

I enjoyed Singularity very much, its time-playing feature was awesome. It had quite ok story for FPS, and really nice graphics/effects. Dunno what else to say, it’s been a while. I really recommend this one. =)

As for Fable 3…it would be good, if it worked and would not be full of gamebreaking bugs (my friend and tons of people on the internet are complaining and the developer does NOTHING to fix those). I would never buy it, ever!

I heard The Next Big Thing is not as good as Runaway series, that its humor is too artificial, and gets silly after a while. The story was not good either from what I heard.

Gotta love the deal on the Fable bundle (in Euro’s at least);
For the entire package you pay €18,49, while for everything individually you pay €16,87 - and you can exclude the completely useless DLC sets as well.

I keep hearing about Fable 3 bugs - a shame. Fable, despite being a wonderful game, also had game-breaking bugs and the dev did nothing about them. I don’t plan to support that kind of attitude.

there is still aprox 6h for the deal but… if yas want a good 4x RTS…
Consider Sins of a Solar Empire…

its not shown on the steam deal page, but it is 33% off, at a wooping 13$

put it this way, depending on the game settings, a game can span anywhere from 1h to… more than 24h (if you choose that option, in a multiplayer game, it is REALLY easy to save and get back to it in a breeze the week after with the same person (or without ))

For 13$… when a single game…

Best example i can give, is a more in depth Homeworld, if you dont know Homeworld, Sins is probably too deep… its a RTS Galactic Civ

Any recommendations anyone?

I got insanely addicted with Recettear, to the point where I was sad when I realised I had exhausted all the content.
Chantelise is a spinoff of Recettear I believe, but I haven’t tried it. My friend said it was alright.

Spent a few hours in Dungeons of Dredmor. Probably the most polished roguelike you will ever find.

Really enjoyed Sacred 1 and 2, but strictly in coop. Very much doubt I’d take the time to sit down with them in singleplayer.
Sacred1 is more open and requires a bit of effort in figuring out where to go next, where Sacred2 is somewhat more linear.
They are also quite “heavy” games, requiring a good few hours to get anywhere. Definitely not games to just ‘check out’ when you have a backlog.

Psychonauts is also on offer today, which is definitely a game I can recommend. One of the best games I ever played, it’s not advised to pigeonhole it into a specific genre, but it’s simply awesome nevertheless. The artstyle, the controls, the story, but especially the environment interaction. You play as a young boy in a summer camp for children with psychic abilities and at some time get the ability to enter the mind of others, which becomes especially enthralling when you enter an asylum.
A game, I believe, every gamer should have played. It might get some time to get into, but definitely worth it. I guess adding Costume Quest to go with the bundle deal isn’t a bad idea, though I don’t know that game.

I wasn’t impressed with the Witcher (Witcher 2 is for us EU’s cheaper on GoG.com currently).

Duke Nukem Forever - well, we all know it sucks.

I was thinking of buying it…how’s the controls, please?

Good, imho. It has -gulp- 3d platform controls. Don’t mistake it with a platformer though, it’s much more than that.

Anyway, they’re intuitive and there’s plenty of movement options. It’s been a while since I played the game though. It’s quite long, but after one playthrough you’ve probably seen everything there is to see.

The gfx might appear dated and they are, but the artstyle is rendered in such a way that it didn’t bother me for a second.

So, no mouse I guess…hmm…I am little worried here, as I am really bad at playing keyboard only, especially in a 3D game.

Yeah, I do not really mind old gfx, on the contrary. It has its own magic. =)

I do think it involves a mouse (searching from the net certainly turns that up), but I can’t test it myself, not at home currently.

I just the game
you use the mouse to change camera view:left, right, up, down

and the keyboard to move: WASD and the arrow keys
jump is space bar
F picks stuff up
you can invert the mouse control and change key bindings

right mouse click is attack
but I have lots of trouble staying on target cause there’s no mouse cursor at all showing where I’m aiming
and little dude steps forward every time he attacks – and while that looks cool (like a boxer putting power into a punch) it means I have to keep pressing wasd to move the little guy back into position

but I’ve only played about 10 minutes

Cool, thanks to you both, that’s what I needed to know! Buying when I get home! =)
