awesome game, sadly i cant load into it anymore after todays patch on steam. game isnt loading after character selection. playing on bazzite, no problems until todays patch tho. any ideas? i even tryed playing around with compatibility mode
yep, same thing over here on cachyos but haven’t tried to mess with compatibility

Same problem here
After this update I can’t get in with my character. I tried running the game in Legacy x86 mode. The loading screen was replaced by a frozen image of the Video Settings menu, while the location music was playing fine in the background. Does anyone know how to fix it?
We have identified the issue and will be rolling out a fix ASAP.

I’m having the same problem; I bought it recently and got hooked. I tried everything—uninstalling it, safe mode—but nothing worked. It’s a good thing I checked here and saw it was an update error… hopefully, it gets fixed soon.

Hello! All my Characters are deleted now. I was having the same issue with the black screen.
Does it help to toggle Cloud Saving in the options (either On or Off) and then restart the game?
i just installed the hotfix you profided via steam. everything working normal again. THX ALOT!

It also worked for me, but all my characters are deleted now hahaha. Hope they see my message.
not sure rewarding devs by buying stuff when they fix stuff they broke is the sort of thing I’d do. But hey, you do you. I’m 100 hours in. Love the game but causing a loadscreen stall isn’t cool. I’m on GOG. Rebooted, repaired, tried Steam, used Admin rights when launching directly from the grimdawn.exe but thing has worked so far 
try to check your cloud saving. so that it downloads the data again from the steam servers
I try turning off, then on again, but still nothing. No characters haha
well you might be right about the breaking/unbreaking thing. but, until now i never had problems and i did play the game on windows and now on linux. everything smooth till today. also, back in the days when i bought it it was on early access. so i payed nearly nothing. so yeah i think giving something back for such a fast bug fix is the least i could do. and compared to devs like blizzard this is by far the fastes fix i’ve ever seen
