Game Failed to Save Properly Error - Need Help

Hello, on my latest play through I started getting this error: “[v0.9.1a] Game failed to save properly. The failed saved file has been named: FrontierSaveFailed.sav”. This happens when I try to save the game manualy. Autosave is set to 5min. intervalls but it hasn’t been auto saving for hours. I also couldn’t find that Failed.sav file anywhere either. Please help me.

Please upload the save you load prior to trying to save and fail.

Saves are located in:

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\my games\Farthest Frontier\Save

Zip up the entire TownName_###### folder along with the .map file and .sav that reproduces the issue. If the files are too big, you can use a service such as Google Drive to share it with us.

Ahh sorry, the game crashed and I started over from my last save and both the manual and autosaves were all overwritten. Haven’t had the save error since restarting the game though, so that’s something. Thanks for replying!

We weren’t able to reproduce that with your saved game. However, we’ve compiled a debug-version of the game for you to try if you are willing. If you do install it and repo your issue, please share the updated save-failure message with us. It will be similar to the message that you reported but it should indicate which item failed during save. To switch to the debug version, use this beta access code as shown below. pS736G6qmrAx

Right-click on FF in your Steam Library and select “Properties…”:

Select “Betas”, type “pS736G6qmrAx” in the text box, and select “Check Code”. If this fails, you may need to restart your Steam client and try again:

Select the drop-down and select “debug - debug build branch”:

You should see the debug files being downloaded and then the FF icon should indicate that it’s using the debug build:

When you run the game this version should show, indicating that you are running a debug build:

To return to the production version of FF select “None” from the drop-down menu shown in the second image above. That will cause your version to be updated back to the production version of FF.
