Game freezes and pc crashes when loading a saved game

I am pretty far along did a 14 hour one day session and saved my game went to bed, woke up and when I go to load my saved game the load bar gets to the end, hour glass changes to a shovel and game freezes/crashes(some times crashing my whole pc) i have a 3090 GC, 32gb ram, my ssd 2tb open, I’ve verified game files on steam, please help

Does the issue reproduce if you try the latest playtest build?

In your Steam library:

  • Right click Farthest Frontier.

  • Choose “Properties”.

  • Select the “Betas” tab.

  • Enter the access code “azM57G84VWMymKty”.

  • Hit the “Check Code” button.

  • Select the playtesting branch in the dropdown box.

I’m experiencing the same exact issue following update to v0.8.1. I just started the game yesterday and played 4.5 hours. I have a manual save and 2 autosaves. The saves still indicate they are on v0.8.0. I will explore downgrading the game back to v0.8.0 to see if I can launch my save.

Event Reporting shows faulting modules to be ntdll.dll or sometimes, GameAssembly.dll.

The issue persists when trying the latest playtest build.

I can start a new save and load it just fine. Both new save and old save are in the same directory.

Thanks

i tried the code, says invalid… issue still happening with new update, this is now my 3rd restart on 1000 pop city cuz i cant fix game, please help

The playtest is over and v0.8.1a is out now. If you are still getting the issue in the latest version, it is probably generating a Crash Log. These can be found in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp

Can you share that please? Also make sure you have the latest video drivers.

So you say you updated to v0.8.1 but the saves you made in that version still say v0.8.0? Or were they made before the update?

Have you taken any steps such as verifying game files? Updating drivers?

The save was made before the update.

There was a nvidia driver update. Following this update, I was able to load my save!
