Game low fps

Hey,guys~
I just bought a computer with the following system and hardware.
I’m experiencing some stuttering and have a low fps with GRIM DAWN no matter the setting in the game,
Any solutions?:cool::cool:

CPU Type
Intel® Core™ i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Graphics Chipset
Radeon™ RX 460 Graphics
Windows Version
Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) (64 bit)
Memory Type
GDDR5

Try to disable the weather effects. My wife has a R7 260X 2GB and was experiencing some little lags in some areas, and a huge lag only in Fort Ikon. I disabled the weather effects and it’s now running smootly.

Thanks, man.
It works a little, but I’m playing pupg with 60 fps with no problem.
I just thought grim dawn has a lower requirement, i guess not.
Thanks again.:cool::cool:

I mean, it’s not about the power of your hardware, but something that isn’t getting handled in the proper way. Maybe drivers, maybe DirectX, I don’t know. But I’m without time to troubleshoot, so I just disabled the weather effects and it worked. It’s good enough. :smiley:

You can always try reverting the game back to DX9.

Just add “/d3d9” to your launch options for the game in Steam.

Here’s how:

Never had an issue with FPS other than the load screen it drops to 15 just to go up to 61. (Multiplayer lags like crazy often)

My biggest issue is the game would always over heat my card (gtx 560ti). Only way around it is to put all the settings on medium or low.

Idk if you are playing single player, but I have no lag and a great machine on single player but then when I play with friends sometimes the multiplayer lags out. Idk if it has to do with his connection but when I host there doesnt seem to be a problem. Maybe if it is multiplayer try being the host or not the host whatever is opposite.

Would you care to share the fps you are getting? My specs are very similar to yours (except the processor which is an i5 6600k) and I’m “only” getting 40+ most of time. Feels pretty low. :undecided:

Game is poorly optimised imo.

I know we shouldn’t compare it to Diablo 3, but multiplayer when a lot is going on will lag out any game.

Also pleeease, fix the darn lag when people join the game <3

Playing solo with out to much going on is fine, he’ll even a lot of MP, but its not like most people are gonna get much use out of that 144hz screen.

With these settings running DirectX 11, I’m at a smooth 60 fps. (99% of the time)

EDIT: Just a heads up, the two BIG settings that affected my fps most were Anti-aliasing (2x is smooth, 4x will occasionally drop fps) and Ambient Occlusion (for some reason it will sporadically drop fps). I also turned off Depth of Field because honestly, I don’t care for it heh

Thanks, I’ll try that.

There are nice support team. I have some issue has been solved by your team.

Grim Dawn does tend to lag for me on high settings. I turned 'em down a bit and capped my frame rate to like 80 or something get a stable mouse feel and look.

Just thought I’d add that you can still notice the difference between a 144hz monitor and a 60-75hz one even while not actually getting more fps. You can feel the input responsiveness and see more smoothness on the desktop, or even while playing freaking Runescape (or any program afaik). I don’t know why you can still experience a better look/feel but I love 144hz monitors.

But yeah, I’d like to see 100+ fps be the standard for any game these days and even higher for FPS games on good machines since that looks and feels even better still.

Turns out I forgot that I had already turned AA off. I got a 27 inch 1440p monitor recently and have turned it off in all games ever since. The higher pixel density makes up for loss of smooth edges and the performance impact is obviously huge.

Turned off ambient oclusion though and boy that really helped. Pushed the fps straight to 60 most of time! :slight_smile: And I didn’t notice a visible difference. Thanks for the tip!
