I have been trying to boot up the game and it won’t load the menu. All I see is the menu picture with the 2 guys mining and the wagon. There’s no options for anything.
I reinstalled the game, verified files, and reinstalled steam and nothing worked.

Try excluding the game from being checked by any anti-virus programmes you have. See if that fixes it.
What happens if you wipe this directory:
C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Saved Games\Farthest Frontier\
I don’t have any anti-virus.
I have wiped that directory before and tried it just now. I assume you are referring to the one in my documents. It still does not work.
Only see the logo and no menu options.
No, he’s referring to the one in the path he linked. That’s where your save folders are kept now. And if you’re using Windows then you have Windows Defender at least for anti-virus.
Interesting, I haven’t seen this before. Is this a recent issue or is this the first time you’ve tried playing?
Can you generate and post your dxdiag.txt? This will give us more specific info on your computer, perhaps leading to a solution.
To generate a dxdiag.txt file, press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog, type “dxdiag” and hit Enter. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click on “Save All Information” to create the dxdiag.txt file.
I have the same issue… always i´ve been played normally, always. Since 0.97g can´t load the map, it bring me back to the lobby or desk.

I did install a new cpu, mobo, and ram back in Dec 2024. My HDD also died in Dec 2024 which was the location for the Documents, Music, Video, and etc folders. I think reinstalling the game would fix it but I don’t know if it’s a persistent registry issue.
Your machine specs look good. I do suspect that you maybe have an old game that is incompatible (as FF loads meta data from those saved games upon load of FF). As mentioned by Zantai and Medea, make sure you are wiping this directory (below) in addition to the one under My Documents. We transitioned from the the My Documents to the Saved Games folder a while back and there could be an issue with having old incompatible saved games in either place.

I turned off Steam cloud save and wiped it but it still gives me the same issue.
It keeps making the folder when it loads the game and puts a steam_autocloud.vdf file.
Maybe leave the steam_autocloud file in there. That’s where mine is.
While in the new save location I have.
Wow… I manually created Saved Games/Farthest Froniter/Save under my Users folder and it worked…
That folder was never created and I only had the folder under My Documents. It would keep creating that folder after I deleted it.
I think it’s because I linked some of my folders to my D: and then the drive died and maybe the registries were messed up.
Interesting! That was a good idea to make that directory by hand. I’m not sure exactly why that wasn’t being created automatically, but maybe it was related to your messed up D: drive, etc.
