So I recently reinstalled GD via Steam on a new computer and leveled up a melee/Warder and am currently lvl 70. My current movement speed is maxed at 135%, and sometimes when I log in and start playing I notice that I’m running WAY slower than I should be…I also notice that my attack speed is WAY slower, and I crit way less, and basically level up/ kill mobs way slower than usual. It’s like all my bonuses are negated to an extent. The rest of the game environment physics are all normal, it’s just my character. It is VERY noticeable. And I’m not dropping frames or anything in-game…New computer is way overpowered for Grim Dawn. Then out of nowhere while playing, everything speeds back up, run speed feels like 136% again, and melee attack speed jumps way back up and I crit way more again….it’s like a switch gets turned back on. Am I missing something ? Is this a known bug or something? Could it be a corrupted install/ game files? I never had this problem on old machine, on my old melee Archon Avenger……I reinstalled the game since Asterkarn is coming, but this is unplayable as-is….bums me out. Any help on what could be causing this or what I should do would be great, thanks.
slow debuff?
(if it’s just your char and not “world” seems unlikely to be system lag etc and possibly just buff/debuff related)
if you had a video recording and GT it might be easier to spot if it’s something normal or a bug
if you’re a sav warder there’s also the potential double interaction of Boar+Fighting Spirit etc making a potential crit frequency difference
It just happened today again. Ive been leveling up to around 80, finishing up elite difficulty/ Morgoneth in Forgotten Gods- I entered ultimate difficulty and was doing act 1 quests. I decided to randomly enter the East Marsh and kill some mobs, and BOOM. Run speed went way up for no reason at all, and attack speed increased as well. Once again it felt like a “total speed” switch got turned on in the game. I cant tell if this faster speed is how 135% run speed is supposed to feel like and its bugged out slow before it happens, or if the new speeds are bugged too high or something. But it is VERY noticeable when it switches…and my computer isnt dropping frames at all. its not my machine. I never had problems like this back in the day on my old computer playing GD on WIndows 10…could this be a WIndows 11 thing? could it be any of the in-game settings doing this? I dont get how it just “activates” like that…I feel like the entire first part of my session was bugged in slow mode or something- very frustrating…
i couldn’t say or even begin to speculate what,
without a video to see it might even be hard to guess what’s going on
Part of that is it makes little sense for only to affect your player char, that makes it pretty weird when it’s disconnected like that from the actual game/world/enemie, and then i don’t recall anyone bringing such issue up before ever.
That’s also why i mentioned if it might just be an oversight and it’s really just buffs/debuffs going on, ex when you mention East Marsh:
there is just not much to go on not experiencing it ourselves
yeah…I checked to see what the buffs were for East Marsh when I went in there…it was armor debuff or something…nothing affecting speed-.its so distinct when it kicks in. really feels like a bug 100% I played all morning on the “slow” mode…only realized i wasnt at max speed until I went into East Marsh. The game is still playing at correct speed right now…(or bugged…I cant tell which is right any more) but the difference between the two is very distinct! I might try re-installing the game or something…Literally Everything ramps up…move speed, melee attack speed, crits…its crazy. Like I said I never had this problem before back in the day when I played melee Archon Avenger on my old computer…Anyway, thanks for the replies
