Having honed my voyeuristic predilections by lurking on the Grim Dawn forums for a while now, I thought it was time to expose myself, as it were, with an introduction.
A number of years back a mondegreen was responsible for giving birth to my forum name. Technically, it refers to a misheard word or set of lyrics from a song, so, I hope you’ll forgive me for applying this term to the movie it came from. For the longest time, I believed what Greedo had said to Han Solo in the cantina scene in ‘Star Wars: A new hope’ was, “Jutta Solo”. What I discovered later, much to my chagrin is Greedo actually said, was, “Echutta, Solo”. And so, in my mind and ever after, Juttasolo was born.
Anyway, I’ve been a gamer for most of my life. Probably not unlike many here who frequent the Grim Dawn forums. I was introduced to Dungeons & Dragons at the tender age of 7, by one of my cousins, back in the 70’s. From that point onward, it’s pretty safe to say gaming has been the one constant mistress throughout my life. Be it console, computer, role playing or board gaming. Speaking of which, my friends and I played for the first time last Friday, Brew Crafters, published by Dice Hate Me games. Brilliant game, and you can find out more about it on boardgamegeek.com (don’t have enough posts recorded to embed a link to the bgg.com site).
From what I’ve observed, the GD community is very passionate about all aspects of this game and care a great deal about its success. Within the last couple of months I have picked up playing it again mostly using a scattershot approach to character theory crafting. A big thank you to those of you in the community who have populated the forums with such amazing and fun builds & build ideas. On top of that it’s the civilized conversations about the finer points of build mechanics / optimization vs. what’s fun, that while intense at times, have remained congenial and informative.
Thanks for the space to share a bit about myself. And, I look forward to participating in whatever small way I can to the community.
