Gamma is incorrect when alt-tabbing back to desktop

If I set Grim Dawn to use my custom 4k resolution (created via NVCP’s “Change Resolution” menu) and then Alt Tab out of the game, the desktop is washed out like the gamma was raised to a stupidly high level. Closing the game restores correct desktop appearance.

Why is 4k resolution a custom resolution on my PC? My monitor is 1080p, I create a 4k display mode to serve as 2x Super Sample Anti Aliasing in games that lack a SSAA option.

The game is set to “Fullscreen” mode because the Borderless Fullscreen setting incorrectly fails to restrain the game to the displayable portion of the monitor (you get a 4k visual that extends beyond the edge of the monitor instead of 1080p with 2x SSAA, you can read my report on this here).

System specifications are listed in my profile.

I don’t get this on alt tabbing but exiting Grim Dawn resets my ICC profile. I have another tool that reapplies it but it’s a bit weird

With more testing it seems the issue is intermittent.

So Grim Dawn is just… behaving badly on my system.

With the game set to 1920x1080 the Gamma in-game can either be normal or dark… re-launching the game during the same Windows session can change the result. If the Gamma is abnormally dark than adjusting the in-game Gamma setting will cause the graphics in the game to go haywire, if the games Gamma is normal than the Gamma setting works fine.

With the game set to 4K the Gamma in-game will seemingly always be correct, but the desktop when alt tabbing to it will sometimes be messed up (very bright). Sometimes the Gamma will remain messed up for the desktop when quitting the game too, I didn’t try much to fix the desktop but a reboot always worked.

Windows 10 22H2
Geforce 1070Ti (528.49 driver)
Grim Dawn x64

This is potentially caused by alt-tabbing before the Crate Entertainment logo and other text appears.
