Just how big do you think the GD Community is? My husband commented that it’s not very big at all compared to other games. There isn’t a lot of Twitch streamers at any given time it seems and the message board seems to move somewhat slow. I saw there is an unofficial discord but I have yet to go on there because I’m not a huge fan of discord. However to me it seems there is definitely a community around GD.
So how many active community members do you think are playing on a regular basis? How big of the community is there actually outside of the game itself? Like active Streamers, Discord users, message board posters, etc.
And why do you think it is as big, small, medium, or whatever size you are saying it is. What could make it bigger or smaller? Or do you think it’s just right? What is the best way to meet other GD players? Through the Discord?
I have no real information for you; I just wanted to say that I read the forum for a couple of years before registering. There may be some more people like me lurking out there.
Define community, there are somewhere between 2.5k and 3.5k players on any given day according to Steam.
If you talk about people in forums, then usually that is a small percentage of players (maybe it is a larger percentage for GD because whoever is still around by now has shown to be a fan and is therefore more likely to visit forums).
As to size of the community, because it is neither free, nor Diablo, but a small indie developer that does not have anywhere near the marketing muscle of the big guys.
For it being a small indie game, I think it did well audience wise. I would like for GD to have a larger audience as that is better for Crate. As I play SP it makes no difference for me however.
Guess this depends on what other games you’re trying to judge it against. If you’re talking the Diablo series, well that’s been around for decades, has millions of followers and sold millions of copies. GD on the other hand has only been fully released for 2 and a half years and has sold between 1.5 and 2 million.
People are always joining the forum here and the discord as well, how long they stick around is anyone’s guess same as any other social media platforms. Some, like Salazar, lurk before joining up. Others probably don’t join up to anything and just read whatever media they want for info if they want it. Then you have the smaller group of people like me and Asylum101 who’ve been following the game ever since word of Medierra’s little project got out and stuck around all the way through development.
