GD Singleplayer vs Multiplayer Debate

Such as? Side/challenge dungeons, “super-bosses”, and the loot system are all balanced for singleplayer gameplay, not for trading or multiplayer gameplay. In fact, multiplayer is heavily imbalanced: game content scales far too slowly with more players (4 players turn the game into a cakewalk) and PvP is a fantastic shitshow.

As has been said, multiplayer is something to do if you want to, but it is not content in and of itself, and no content is made for it.

Multiplayer…way…

Ultimately, I suppose I don’t care. If you’re enjoying yourself…

I never said that it was a multiplayer focused game. You’ll never found those two words in my statements. you guys just don’t understand what I mean because you are upset with what I said. I just can’t explain you. If we were face to face you should understand what i mean. And yes, @Zantai, I really really enjoy this game and I can’t wait for the expension.

Except you did.

I probably don’t need to reiterate what everyone else has said but hell why not.

To put it simply - there is a difference between a game that is built from the ground up to be a multiplayer game and a game that is built from the ground up to be a single player game that features multiplayer.

This is not ‘‘multiplayer focused’’ words :stuck_out_tongue:

@Evil_Baka you are right, but for me, as soon that you have a multiplayer option, that can change your solo experience. The multiplayer take place. Even if you continue playing single player. That’s the way I see it.

Yes, yes it is. You stated quite clearly that is not a solo game but it’s multiplayer. There’s absolutely only one way to interpret what you said and that you meant to say it’s a multiplayer focused game.

Grim dawn is not a solo game, it’s a multiplayer game.

This pretty much translates to Grim Dawn is a multiplayer focused game. There’s literally no other way it can be interpreted. And how exactly does having a multiplayer affects your solo experience? Don’t take this the wrong way, I am just trying to understand your thought train and in no way I want to insult you.

Why do you continue doing this? Is that any purpose in that? Anyway a lot of people is on your side you can put your sword in it sheath I will not bite you.

@DonSnow, all right. Look. For me, there’s solo games, and multiplayer games. Solo games can have a multiplayer option of course, of many kinds. But multiplayer games cannot. A focused mutliplayer game for you as I understand should be something like league of legends or cs go. because you cannot play solo really. I understand this. But what is for you a solo game? What it is? Sims?Fable?Prince of persia?Assasin’s creed? I’m pretty sure they are in your list. And they are in mine too. At some point as I said at the beginning of that post, some solo game can have a multiplayer option. It can me a mini game, it can be a versus or a coop with two controlers. This is the case of a lot of games, and they still solo.

For example, portal, It is a solo game with a coop mode. But there’s games that you can actually have a solo mode, and a multiplayer mode that is bassicly the same game. But actually you can be one or many. You can trade stuff in it. So it changes your solo experience because you had help. You can have a friend that is boosting you, or helping you in something in the game. You can compare stuff too and compare your domage. And this is done in the same game than people that are playing solo.

So stating that Grim Dawn is a Solo game is false, and stating that the game is multiplayer focused is false to, because it is not a mmo or a versus game or I don’t know what. But, the game includes ALL elements in solo and multiplayer experience. So this is why it is a solo game at base, yeah it is. But you play the game not for the same reason than fable for example. And with all the people that trading stuff and helping each other doin question and beating bosses, the game is involved in multiplayer.

So because it is not a solo only game with these argument, what it is? It is as Zantai said, a solo game that haves a multiplayer experience with it. Sure I got it, but, beeing the same game in both, solo and multiplayer, and you can intereact with both things with trading and help and stuff, it is a multiplayer game in my mind. I never played grim dawn for myself only, I always had a multiplayer experience in my mind when I found an item or a rare MI. Can I tarde it? Will I show it to people online? So, this is why it is multiplayer for me and not a solo game. It is not a multiplayer focused game though, it is not league of legends. You guys just misunderstood me.

Guys internet forums are seldomly about logic consecution or coherence.

I think this guy has something of a warped definition of a multiplayer. For him, ANY game that has that is automatically not a solo game.

Because i have an issue with people spreading lies. What if someone reads one of your posts saying is a multiplayer game, buys it thinking it’s one but then gets extremely disappointed to find out it’s single player focused and the multiplayer is barebones? Those type of statements are harmful.

You can enjoy the game for its multiplayer all you want and i’m not trying to attack you personally or gang up on you with anyone else.

You never really gave any vivid explanation on why you believe having multiplayer ruins the solo experience. In that logic, Skyrim should also be treated as a multiplayer game since someone made a MP mod, so if people use starts using the mod, it will essentially ruin your experience as a solo player, as multiplayer started existing.

The way I see it, you are posting your opinion here, and that’s totally acceptable, but when you post the same statements elsewhere, people who haven’t played the game might be influenced over this false fact and refrain from experiencing/buying it (since many people rely on first review/impression, even if its from a stranger online). And then we have the PoE fanboys who will ride their white horse and bash GD for any excuse. So, it’s best to clear the confusions and deter from spreading false facts.

What anime is your avatar from?

I have yet to discover those things in my real life let alone finding those on the internet

This thread got bad faster than a cup of milk you left to chill outside for few hours in a hot summer day.

I wrote my explaination past page, you should read it with all my respect.

I am not quite sure unfortunately, I found it off a pinterest post through a google search.

I did but it kinda doesn’t make any sense. According to what you said, Skyrim is also a multiplayer game. To be honest, I was expecting a bit more logical arguments.

Let me give you another analogy. You went to a restaurant and ordered a steak. They served you the steak and also a plate of free salad. Now, you are upset because the steak became a vegetarian dish because it was served alongside a free vegetable salad?

lol@this thread! Where did this lil beauty come from? haha=P

Good to know I’ve spent thousands of hours playing a multiplayer game while thinking all the time I was playing single-player. Grim Dawn is a lot of things already so imagine my excitement to find out it is also a chameleon!

Beware my sig below. It might bear portents of the future. OoooOOoh… spooky. I know.

My nominee for top post in this thread

If you mix a salad with steak, it becomes a salad steak. However, this also applies to the counter example, if you mix steak with salad, it becomes a meat salad.
The matter of perspective is what makes salad a steak and vice versa. Since the guy we are arguing with values salad more than steak, it becomes a salad steak for him. It’s a feature, therefore, it’s free.
