Anyone knows how to use GD Stash with grimarillion? Been trying to make it work, but i can only see my save files in my vanilla, i really hope it does work and if anyone knows how to, can please give me a tutorial on how to do it, really appreciate it, thank you!
As I already said, you always see all chars and can edit them. When looking at their inventory however you should have their mod loaded, so the mod-specific items can be shown.
If you do not see any, they do not exist (in the selected save dir), so check the local save or cloud save dir for them, whichever you are not currently using in the tool.
yeah that’s what im lacking, can i see your configuration, maybe im having wrong settings, also do you need to load the char before you can edit? or will it automatically appear in the list?
sorry for the trouble.
My save dir is C:\Users<username>\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save, no other settings matter
What do you mean by ‘load the char before editing it’ ? You select it from the list, that loads it. Don’t think it needs to have been loaded in game for this to work, but that you can easily check
When you start the tool, the list contains all chars that exist at that time. When you create new chars in game after this point, they will not show up until you either restart the tool or press the ‘Reload’ button.
then you most likely are using cloud save, its save files are stored in a different dir. See the config documentation for that dir (doc subdir of GD Stash)
if i may ask, is this attachment the reason why im having so much trouble?
There are only two options, either the tool and GD use different save dirs (local vs cloud), or GD Stash cannot write changes to the local dir, which you say you use.
An easy way to find out if that is the issue is
check that GD Stash does use the local save dir
do not have GD running
change a char in the tool, save and exit the tool
start the tool again and load the char
if the changes are still there, GD has to also load the changes
Alternatively, create a new char in GD and check if you now have that new char in the local save dir. I assume you do not…
In any case, this is not an issue of the tool but of your PC / setup
ok just to clear things up,
Is the save directory in my documents?
The tool is seeing my progress in game.
I turned off cloud saving, then i moved my saved files from my documents directory.
The local save dir is C:\Users<username>\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save
If the tool is seeing your progress, then at least both GD and the tool should look at the same dir. If however GD does not register the tool’s changes (obviously not for the char you are currently playing…), then the only explanation I have is that you use cloud save after all. I never heard of anything like this with local saves.
OH COOL IT’S NOW WORKING, i shouldnt use the tool while GD is open or the character should not be loaded, thanks a bunch and sorry for all the trouble! Btw Good job with the tool!
Yes, for local saves, playing the char / having the stash open in game while making changes in the tool results in those changes being lost, as the game already has a copy of that data in memory and does not need to load it from disk any more.
As GD constantly saves the files, the changes you made get overwritten soon after you made them.
For cloud saves, do not have GD running at all, as it frequently seems to prefer the cloud data over the local file in that case.
No DB is available for download, but you can import the mod into GD Stash on the config page. If you only imported the GD data, not the mod, then you obviously do not have any spears etc.
It will be imported into a separate database, so make sure you have the mod selected on the config page when editing the mod’s stashes or chars, so the mod’s items are available.
Thank you for the quick answer. It worked but I can’t make a direct search (“crafting”) and have to first choose the normal softcore.gst and then switch to grimarillion. Besides, some items do not have the proper bitmap image and can’t be created. That’s not a minor problem for me as I have enough to do what I want.
