GD survivor... any chance?

Ok… Hold on to your Beer guys, this is gonna be a funny one, but I do think it will work out nicely, well you see, the “Vampire-survivor implementation” to a game is getting Wild now( As Deep Rock Galactic Jump to the pit), i am thinking, why not? GD join in? A Grim Dawn Survivor Maybe? (I am not trolling, i just want more ppl to know GD lol)

Like, there’s a lot of fun ones out there, Vampire Survivor itself, Nordic Ashes(skyrim liked skill tree-the wasd movement only style), Hall of Torment (D2 style gritty enviroment + aim to attack style) and now Death must die ( Hades+ D2)

For GD to become the Survior Genre…it had a perfect system, materials for it…

  1. The classes, skill tree, devo !
  2. Items ! MI ! Legendaries, Relics ! Augments !
  3. Faction ! Enemies type !
  4. Settings, Map ! Acts !
  5. Synergies ! Builds availability !

Use the same style like in GD, you start as a Guy, or girl, then once lvl up, you choose classes- invest in skill- devo, but this time around, leveling up will be much faster, since it’s much Rogue-liked (the idea is, all your toon are HC, once you Rip in a map, you’re gone, but if you succeeded? You can move on to other maps, difficulty, while keeping your setup (skills, items)
You can have a piano build, they will be casted intervally, and regularly (or in a rotation of order as you wish) I think the main point i want to do is to test a build out, and see how much fun i can have once…if i get the gear

Thank you for reading, if this thing is even possible… maybe we can brainstorm the idea !

The Vampire Survivor “genre” is actually just a slight (very slight) variation of a much older game. Namely, SmashTV (NES & SNES etc). And Crimsonland (PC) - an old favorite of mine. This new wave of SmashTV-likes main difference is just one thing - continuous auto-attacks.

With those nitpicks of mine out of the way I started bugging Crate about this particular genre some ten years ago. And about seven years ago with the official release I even tried to amp up those efforts. Primarily because we were testing the Crucible out before they released it and at that time I was dreaming of Crucibles “survival” aspect as being more like Crimsonland.

I tried to argue for it even tho I knew for it to be more like that would require drastic changes, additions and so on. Naturally my dream didn’t happen like how I was envisioning Crucible to be.

So, yea. I’d be down for a GD done like SmashTV & Crimsonland. Who knows, maybe some year in the future.

Oh yeah, that do sounds like Crucible, Gauntlet… but i think the one thing “Special” about a game like Crimsonland is the “Speed” like it’s Totally PoE level of level ups, or moving around, and

I am curious to see how this can work out, and in addition, i want to test a build out myself, instead of watching YT’s Video/ Twitch content on a build that caught my attention

With this GD survivor maybe, i can get to try out the build i wanted instead of just watching it

Eventhough a GD Survivor would be… dumb? But, i have hopes lol
(It can even be the “Testing ground/ playground” when they want to implement some interesting for the future games)
