Gearing a 2h physical-focused Warder.

I finally settled on a skill, stat and devotion spread for my warder ( http://grimcalc.com/build/1006-w9v0uY ), but now I need to start thinking about gear. I’ve been browsing through Graceful Dusk for a while now and haven’t really come to any hard conclusions about equipment (an Empowered Essence of Beronath would probably be nice but that’s not really set in stone, and if something else out there is better I’d take that instead most likely). Any ideas on what BiS gear would look like for this build?

EDIT: Contemplating http://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items/8484-The-Guillotine as weapon. Guillotine has somewhat low base DPS and no attack speed boost, but very nice bonuses otherwise (and I get a lot of attack speed boost from my devotions and skills anyway). Still browsing other gear, not really finding anything that jumps out at me. I already have a Warpath Girdle (2 actually) http://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items/2334-Warpath-Girdle which probably isn’t quite BiS but it seems close.

I guess BiS gear would look like something like that : http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41810

If you don’t have Leviathan, Stonefist Rebuke can be a good option

I’m actually aiming towards the Bloodrager set (new for 1.0.0.6, pics here: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showpost.php?p=437181&postcount=52 ) and Guillotine at the moment, though I might change it. Unfortunately I don’t have Blade Arc on my build to really get the MOST out of Bloodrager (seriously Crate, having it stay at 3 skillpoints/level all the way to 85 would be so nice) but I still get a lot of use from it. Leviathan is very nice but the cold damage and proc are not particularly useful for this character.

EDIT: Some of the pieces in the Ideal setup for that warder look really good though. Peerless eye of beronath would be a hell of a find.

The title says: Gearing a 2h physical-focused Warder.
As this stated, your main attack skill should be Cadence followed by Blitz (not lightning Savagery). Also with new Warborn set (but without weapon - you need Leviathan) - Bloodrager is Warder set indeed, but with support for Savagery (lightning) and Blade Arc (which you dont use)

Your build is total mess (devotion also). When i will have time (much later today or tomorrow) i can write you my PHYSICAL build. It is about Cadence and Warborn set with Leviathan weapon.

Come on, savagery is primarily weapon damage. At 16 points it’s 150% weapon damage, 37 lightning, and 42 bleed.

Cadence may be stronger but it’s every 3rd hit and that 3rd hit doesn’t proc wps skills. I imagine it’s a big part of the reason 1h cadence builds are so popular. You’re going to bind either assassin mark or blind fury to upheaval and it’s going to be procing less. You’re also losing out on a fair bit of attack speed with cadence which seems even more important with that skill especially with a slow 2h.

Idk, both seem to be viable and have their pros and cons. Cadence being stronger but savagery being more consistent with more defense.

Just because the skill has a little lightning and electrocute damage on top of a lot of weapon damage I wouldn’t call it lightning focused.

Can’t see devotions on mobile but not sure why you’re pumping brute force for a physical build. I put one point into war cry and let break morale hit the cap with +skills. Blitz, blindside, and totem are also too good to pass up.

This^. When Jajaja made the Savagery phys warder Svagery was bugged and somehow double dipped in damage. This has been fixed since meanwhile cadence received a huge buff, and deadly momentum also will give you huge damage.

@Bababooey: You Forget deadly momentum. It is a huge deal late game especially with the + skills from Warborn

Edit: What i’d probably end up doing - some + skills are taken into consideration in this skill allocation, upheval youcan keep at 1 point or none (read bellow on devotion proccing) http://grimcalc.com/build/1006-Obm8v9

I chose Oleron’s Rage over Primal bond for the OA, you can do otherwise. Assasin’s mark on cadence and Blind fury on Upheval (Cadence proc overrides upheval but it’s still worth it. If you don’t like that then just put Blind fury on cadence and Assassin’s mark on Grasping Vines, it work surprisingly well with good OA and same goes for Black water cocktail

Just speced into cadence. I urge the op to try both. I highly doubt that it’s better than savagery early on.

After actually using both i stand by my both have their pros and cons comment on a 2h build.

Also, lol at the “just use the warborn set”. Yeah, that drops like crazy.

Wish he would mention that in the guide, i was just about do that build.

To hijack the thread a bit, anyone can point me in a general direction of a 2H Warder build, like the skeleton of the class ? I’m brand new to the game (tho an arpg elder), wanted to play a “2H warrior type” and after reading the classes figured it would be soldier+shaman. If there’s a better combo, i’d appreciate that as well.

Thanks.

sry for late answer…
This is my physical 2h Warder, it is far from perfection, but it is my first char. Still with this char i can pretty easy (and fast) farm all game content. 400k dmg top hit in Ultimate. When i will have time, i will optimize it (now playing and building Cadence Warborn Witchblade).

With +skills and devotion:

Warborn set with 2h Leviathan weapon.

Warly on meaning until you get Deadly momentum? from that point on Cadence Far out performs Savagery for pure physical.

Gear dependent, imo. If you can get enough attack speed and your defensive options are on point. You lose physical resist. I’m probably going to have to drop feral hunger, it’s interfering with upheaval and blind fury isn’t procing remotely as much. As is the both have a 33% less chance to proc. That’s aoe and a potent heal. Most of your damage being on every third hit seems to demand attack speed and you’re losing storm touched on top of it. Now we’ll talk crits. You have to hope that every third hit crits instead of any savagery attack. Even now I’m having a hard time saying it far outperforms savagery for sure. It’s does but it’s not that black and white.

Edit: I didn’t try cadence while leveling. Deadly momentum does a lot of flat physical damage. That should be big early on depending on your weapon. I forgot about that part.

I assure you it plays a big role both early and end game. You will get Cadence procs to 100K physical damage in the scond inventory screen. You can do anywhere over and between 100K and 200K cadence crits (more in crucible).

PS: I love savagery and how it can work with upheval. It’s just that Cadence will just outclass it for physical, especially after Savagery fix and Cadence buff.
