Updated last night after having not done so in years.
Was playing fine yesterday. Now whenever I launch the game just is a black screen and crashes.
I’ve verified the files. Still nothing.
did you update via galaxy or the offline installers?
if so did you full install with the installers if owning expansion? - as the GoG patch updater doesn’t correctly update the game for expansions
have you tried running the repair tool in the game install folder ? (it resets settings in case there might have been a conflict)
*did you use GI(grim internals) before? - because it doesn’t work with new versions of the game and will indeed insta crash it
have you tried whitelisting/making a manual exclusion for the game in your anti virus if you have one? - for some reason some anti virus don’t like to play nice with GD after an update
if using GoG are you launching the game via either galaxy or the actual "launch grim dawn"premade short cut in the folder and not the game exe direct? - you can’t launch the x64 exe direct
I did it via GoG Galaxy. I’m used to Steam doing this.

Not sure what Grim Internals is. I hadnt played the game in years. I’d come back a few days ago and all was fine. I noticed I didnt have Shrines in some locations. I realized my game was out of date. So I updated last night after my session.
I only use Windefend Mbam.
I’ve tried using the .exe and gog. I’ve done it the desktop shortcut and the .exe in my launch folder.
I’m using the 32 bit version.
I am not sure if GoG updated the expansions. It worked. I hate GoG. =/
sounds like most of those notes dont’ apply to you then 
assuming it’s not messed up install/something that gets fixed by full reinstall
quick thing to try is to go into C:\Users\name\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\Settings options.txt fine the line and set
UPnPEnable = false
i don’t remember the reason but for some people that’s an old setting that solves insta crash
Seems like it was Gog didnt update the expansions. This is why I hate GoG. Why would it not update the expansions?
i can’t say, if you updated via galaxy it should do it fine/seems to work for me,
it’s usually just if using the manual patch installer it wont do it correctly
