I got my GOG keys from humble store and followed the instuctions to redeem the keys but when I tried to apply them I got an error message saying I couldnt download the DLC content as I did not have the basic game. I had always assumed that when I signed up to Grim Dawn via Kickstarter I would have access to the basic game plus the DLC content. GOG support told me that I needed to buy a copy of the basic game from them and that would cost 20 pounds sterling. I feel ripped off!
Does anyone who purchased early access via Kickstarter not have access to the basic game? I have been playing the game on Steam now for over 2 years with no problems. What is going on with GOG?
I am having the exact same problem. I just got my GOG key and tried to redeem it on GOG. But I’m getting the same error message that Dunraggit is getting.
I didn’t get two keys, I only have one. What should I do?
Note: I have never played the game on Steam (this is the first time I’ve ever used my Legendary key).
Thanks for the response Mamba. I have two keys but as I had registered via kickstart for the dual licence package I presumed the two keys were for the two separate licences. On the Humble web site I was offered either a Steam key or a GOG key, I chose a GOG key. I will try and register the other key with GOG amd see what happens.
Hi,Eisprinzessin I had exactly the same screen as Tiptoe and selected GOG tab and was presented with two keys that I assumed was for the two licence pack that I originaly signed up for. As it happens, I used the second key first and got the error message. I will try the first key now and see what happens.
Note that if you have multiple copies of the game, they will each get a separate store page. If you use the key re-sender on Humble, it should email you two links for separate store pages.
If you used different email addresses for multiple purchases though, then you’d need to use the re-sender for each address.
If you do that and you only get one page link, then Humble should be able to check the record and sort it out. If they can’t figure it out, email our support and we’ll talk to them and try to sort it out. I suggest emailing Humble first though since it should be shorter than emailing us and then us emailing them.
Sorry people are still having lingering issues - the distribution was complicated and there were some fringe cases where the data was configured a bit weird and things may have gotten mixed up. We’ll get it all resolved in time.
I’m confused as hell. I have both base game and DLC steam keys activated on steam account…I still did not get my in game flavor items and I was also thinking that the free DRM key was to be able to give to a friend so they could play game too otherwise what is the point of giving someone a free version of the game they already bought and is already playing?
I’m super confused because I tried to get that key and they at first revoked my steam key to give me a GoG key and then reversed it and I can’t get a free DRM key because I already have my first key from way back when I bought PATRON package and played in Alpha back in August of 2013
If I undestand you correctly, LukkaReborn, then you only bought 1 copy of the game. Since Crate decided to distribute the DRM-free version through GoG, you only get one game key (and one DLC key). If you friend wants to play GD, too, he needs to purchase the game for himself, or you purchase one more copy and gift it to him.
The old 32-character key was not meant to be gifted to a friend. Anyway, it is obsolete now and was removed as it serves no purpose anymore.
If you redeemed the game and the DLC key on Steam, then you need to speak to Kory the Keeper in front of prison gates in Devil’s Crossing, to get you extra in-game items.
What’s the point of giving a free DRM version away to the same people that already bought the game? It literally serves no purpose whatsoever… Bought the package way back in 2013 and any of those packages literally gives you the game when it’s released so this FREE DRM makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to give to the people that can already play it if they are the only ones that can use it. Yes I received my steam key back in 2013 to play the alpha and every build since then.
No I’m not saying that. I thought they were letting us give away a free copy for KSing them and backing them by buying it on their website 3 years ago… that’s why I’m confused… I already bought the game…so what’s the point of giving the SAME people the same product that they already bought AND are playing since 2013…what is the point of that? It’s like buying a game and they give you 2 copies that only YOU can use…why? That is redundant.
Or did they turn that Steam key I got when I backed them into a full game release key and the people that backed it that didn’t get this effect needs the free DRM version to continue to play it? Like I said…very confusing…the only way I see this making sense is if people want to switch from steam to GoG to play the game.
The point is that some people dislike Steam and would prefer to give up their option of a Steam copy in order to get the game on GOG. It’s just a personal preference but we known some people wanted this option, we promised it in our KS and now we’ve made it available.
Ok, heard back from Humble wrt to getting the Backer’s Distinction medal.
The Grim Dawn key was meant for the accessing the early release content made available in the forum a few years back.
I would reach out to Crate again, and see if they can assist you with the Backer’s Distinction vs. the KS Officer medal. Unfortunately, we cannot access your initial backer information
I had forwarded the initial email from Crate to them to prove that I had ordered before the KS, that is the key the answer refers to.
what year did KS begin, I got the Legendary (now it’s was listed as Patron) edition way back in April 2011. Does that qualify for the Backers Distinction medal?.
