I see now gd on gog discount. Any difrence where i buy a game?
I’m not entirely certain but I believe Steam players and GOG players cannot play together. Between the 2, I also want to say that Steam has the bigger player base.
Differences are Gog is drm free but less playerbase if you want MP, updates can be slower as Gog manually check each update before releasing and depending on whether you use Gog galaxy or not updates can result in a re-download of the entire game.
hm and what beter to weit again on steam discount or to buy gog version
That is purely personal choice, unless MP is very important then wait for steam.
…and without steam, trading will probably out of the picture…
With GoG you can play the game even if your internet connection is down. Not so on Steam thanks to DRM. Also I love this game but I have to say that the multiplayer experience is pretty bad. I used to play with my brother when I first got it and we had lots of problems, from not being able to even see the game the other had created to all sorts of sych problems in game (loot, character position, etc.) When I began playing again recently I started out right next to my brother, in his house, and encountered much the same situation. We were seeing different things on our screens and did have trouble finding the game the other had created. Unless you are really set on playing with others and are willing to work around these problems I would recommend getting it on GoG.
You can play Grim Dawn on Steam in offline mode whenever you wish and always could.
question is which platform has got the more experienced and more friendly players?
I played GoG until AoM and I can tell you that you will rarely find players in MP.
Steam is the place for MP
Oh? Well then I apologize for the misinformation. Apparently my understanding of DRM is flawed. I can probably put some of the blame for that on wikipedia:D. How does DRM work then if you aren’t connected to the internet?
This might help…
How Steam Employs DRM & What That Means For Your Game
No, after 2 or 3 weeks when you couldn’t reach steam, you can no longer play.
It happens many times to people working in bad internet foreign countries.
If they had a GOG game, they could still play, and after several weeks once they find an internet connection they can at last synchronize their saves.
As it says in the article I linked, Steam needs to reauthenticate every couple of weeks but barring that you can indeed play offline. It’s not perfect (nor was I making any claims otherwise) but you can do it. If you can’t find a momentary connection once every 14 days then sucks for you I guess. Shouldn’t be too hard to do in most of today’s world I would think.
If you want complete unimpeded freedom then go GoG of course. I have it on both so I’m good to go either way.
i think i buy now gog version, and maybe some days can play with steam players;)
I had thought I had gone longer than 2-3 weeks before without a connection and had no issue with GD.
I buy now on gog full game, my 1st original game for 22years of playing;)
