Good Luck Out There

I just wanted to send well wishes to the team. I envy you guys in a lot ways and am looking forward to the game.

Feargus Urquhart
CEO
Obsidian Entertainment, Inc.

Thanks for the well wishes!
Love Nwn2 and Fallout3

Wow, thanks for dropping by Feargus. I’m sure the Crate team will appreciate the well wishes.

I’m sure they’ll appreciate that a lot!

There is a name I haven’t seen in a while!

Its nice to see you keeping an eye out and rooting for the underdog!

Good luck with New Vegas, for what its worth I hope the launch goes smoother than Neverwinter Nights 2 and Alpha Protocol, and that New Vegas shall be the game that allows OEI to exceed the legacy and expectations placed upon it by fans from the Black Isle days.

I doubt you will remember me, but I wanted to thank you for my time working with Obsidian as a Community Representative for NWN2. The time I spent with you and Rob taught me a great deal and opened a many doors that have made my life ever since, significantly more interesting.

Best of wishes,

Jay Goulding

Damn, if I knew we were having celebrity guests I would have cleaned this place up a little!

Thank you for taking the time to post here and wish us well, it is sincerely appreciated. Likewise, I wish you guys only the best at Obsidian and I’m looking forward to Fallout Vegas. Some of the most memorable games I played while in school have your name in the credits.

I’m not quite sure what you envy other than perhaps our freedom but I hope I can someday look back and feel like my resume of shipped titles is half as impressive as yours. :stuck_out_tongue:

P.S. When is Castles III coming out?!

You have risen from the ashes of Iron Lore with all of that experience and knowledge. You have a huge built in fan base and potential for a million sales, you have your own IP for your very first game instead of working on another Developers IP or for a publisher whom at the end of the day owns the rights to all you have made.

You also have complete creative freedom, you do not have to respond to a board of directors, you are not beholden to Walmart.

You are not so large that you can lose sight of a projects heartbeat, every member of the team is intimately familiar with the project and no doubt sleep, breath and eat Grim Dawn.

Your only restriction is money, and the amount of hours your small but dedicated and passionate team can work in a day.

As a company you are young enough to be idealistic and have dreams, but old and wise enough to have learned from history.

Grim Dawn is a throw back to the days before making games was a Billion Dollar business and everything was owned by EA, Activision, Take-Two or Zenimax.

Most importantly, you are still Game Developers, not businessmen, not bureaucrats, not politicians… and you have the potential to do something amazing!

I don’t think there is anyone working in the industry right now who doesn’t envy you guys a little, Ramen noodles and unpaid salaries included.

You guys are living every little boys dream, before the cut throat reality of big business enters the picture and whats more, if you are successful you can continue to live out that dream because everything you create, you own and there is nothing anyone can do to take it away from you!

Well put Void! And awesome to see support from within the game development arena as well.

Soul

Yeah I agree, well put Void.
+1

Geez, I was just trying to make him feel better… way to ruin it!

No seriously though, I love all of those things about our current situation but man, it isn’t easy going 2 years without salary. I will breath the most massive sigh of relief ever breathed and retroactively envy myself as soon as the game turns out successful. :stuck_out_tongue:

I couldn’t say better words. Well put Void.

Well, all of your fans here would love for the game to go big and keep you guys enthused about making games. Of course, we want to play the great games too! It’s the circle of gaming life. Very rare to get in on the ground floor on a game production where the game devs are their own boss… and share the development with the fans… and actually ask them for feedback.
