Grava's Foodie thread

lol talk about a self-aware brand

I’m guessing you belong in the hater category.

Oh yeah, they use that in their advertising for it; it’s well known.

" By the 1990s Marmite’s distinctive and powerful flavour had earned it as many detractors as it had fans, and it was known for producing a polarised “love/hate” reaction amongst consumers. For many years television advertisements for Marmite featured the song “Low Rider” by the band War with the lyrics changed to the phrase “My Mate, Marmite”. Marmite began a “Love it or Hate it” campaign during October 1996, and this resulted in the inventing of the phrase “Marmite effect” or “Marmite reaction” for anything which provoked controversy."

And yes, I’m a hater.

Seems it’s available in the US so you can give it a try yourself Grava. 4.2 out of 5 rating on amazon.com

Great present from Germany!

Or take this:

Not kidding, it really tastes good. A beer with beetroot, lemon balm and peppermint flavor.

Now that I would probably actually try at least once on purpose.

Btw Grava, if you do get around to trying any of these wonderful foodie treats we’re posting for you do let us know what you think of them. :beers:

Another one to tickle your taste buds - or not @Grava .

And another one to go with it.

Banana, herring and egg pizza.

Are you into coffee Grava? A bit bored with the same old flavour? How about all these?

Saw them in a store the other day and couldn’t believe the number of different flavours they do.

why does Coffee need ´(weird) flavours @ _@
and wth is up with some of those flavours mince pie ?!? :exploding_head:

Yeah, they’ve got some really crazy flavours in those.

Okay, new addition coming in. Fish finger sandwiches. Never heard of them before, but they seem to be a growing trend in the UK atm. There’s an TV advert for Hellman’s mayonnaise featuring one and the pub we went into today had them on their menu.

According to wiki they’ve been around for some years, but never heard/saw anything about them when we were over in the UK back in May.

This reminds me of an older (and shameful!) story of my doing.

Some friends took me out to a (somewhat fancy) burger joint nearby. They have tons of different burgers available, including a salmon burger, which was just a grilled salmon between two buns. I ordered that, and then proceeded to just take the salmon out from the burger and eat it as I would a regular piece of seafood.

My friends were rather mortified and to this day remember when I went to a high-end burger joint and didn’t eat a burger.

They haven’t brought me back there since.
