Welcome to the forums
As for your build. It would help to know what you’re trying to do with it - what types of damage are you looking to use or what skills/abilities?
Otherwise, some pointers I can make are:
-You likely don’t need many points in Spirit, if any at all - Inner Focus provides a ton of Spirit. You won’t need Cunning either unless it’s to equip a piece of gear. You need Physique for more health and DA.
-You need more resists. They should be close to or almost close to capping for Ultimate. Some of your pieces like your shoulders or gloves are providing nice offensive stats and/or procs but little resists. I would consider looking at faction gear for gear to get more resists, especially gear from the expansion factions.
-I see that you have some points into pets and pet devotions. Honestly though, your pet stats are really low and have few points invested into them, pets need dedicated support to be decent in Ultimate, you lack it. I would consider dropping them.
-Sacred Strike also does not stack with Elemental Storm. I would pick one and drop the other (I recommend Elemental Storm).
-Your focus seems to be on Elemental damage, I see that you have Elemental Storm for RR but you need more - put points into Vulnerability until it’s at 10/10.
-Your devotions are all over the place in terms of damage. You again seem to be doing mostly Elemental damage but I question why you have picked ones such as Falcon, Bat or Hammer. You should consider some defensive devotions like Behemoth or Chariot of the Dead.
I’ll be advise you on skills when you tell me what you want to do with the build because there are some other odd picks like Overload/Frozen Core.
I guess i should add some more to make this a little less crappy post (and be done with that 3 post restriction ¬¬) sooo:
Been playing this for some weeks now and im loving it, I was starting to get tired of D2 and this is the shit, took me almost 100h to realise that i dont like diablo 3 and Grim Dawn looked better to me than PoE so here I am, struggling to finish ultimate for the first time and hoping someone in the forums could give me some advice.
I’m not sure where should i post to ask for advice hope I dont get it wrong later.
You should be fine with creating a topic in ‘Classes, Skills and Builds’ or ‘Gameplay Discussion’, I don’t think there’s much of a difference between the two.
Wow didn’t expect such a fast response, i was lost writting a reply to myself, Thx for that man. About the build:
My idea was to have elemental dmg as the core with the pets doing lightening and fire dmg while i went with novas and sacred strike to synergyze, but as i progressed i kind of started getting points in more skills, and got some devotions to get to leviathan faster and ended up getting lost in the process. Right now i would take any advice on skills so i can play withouth dying at every group of elites or bosses.
But for starters I’ll go rearrange my spirit points to physique and cap those resistances and i guess that i’ll drop pets, although I still need something to proc my devotions.
What skills do you plan on using? I assume based on your choices that you like the look of Trozan’s Sky Shard and Devastation.
I’de rearrange your skill points like this if so: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2mMEYn2
Explanation on what I did and why:
-Removed points from pets and pet-related abilites, namely Summon Raven , Summon Hellhound, Bonds of Bysmiel and Manifestation. You can perhaps keep a point in Raven and Mend Flesh but I wouldn’t rely on it for healing You want other sources for that.
-Removed points in Overload. Overload needs a weapon or % damage and applies a DoT. You likely aren’t whacking things as you are rather squishy and also, you are not focusing on DoT damage. The % Elemental damage is additive with your total which isn’t great when 1 or 2 gear pieces will give the same amount or more and as you get a higher pool of % damage, another 100% or so will have less gain.
-Removed points in Mirror of Ereoctes down to 1 point (5 with + bonuses). Between your high CDR and + bonuses, it should be available enough and the points used can be placed elsewhere for more benefit. I will only ever invest in Mirror if I’m doing an Arcanist build without a focus/off-hand that gives CDR.
-Removed points from Callidor’s Tempest/Inferno. Only really useful for the stun or for proccing celestial powers with a low % and/or high cooldown like Time Dilation. If you do want it back, I would 1 point it and it’s modifier only as it is not your damage dealer.
-Removed points from Frozen Core down to 1 point. Frozen Core is for stacking Frostburn damage. Unless you are focusing on Frostburn, you would be better placing those points into the base skill. Similar to Overload, the % Cold damage is additive but only for Trozans. 1 point is nice for the Freeze though.
-Softcapped Maiven’s and it’s modifier. Just because I feel the points could be better used elsewhere
–Softcapped Aspect of the Guardian. You can go less if you’re massively over on Acid resistance, so long as you keep it up constantly.
-Removed the point in Fabric of Reality. Aether/Chaos aren’t helpful here. % Energy leech requires a weapon or % weapon damage.
-Upped Elemental Balance to 12/12. It adds tasty % crit damage.
-Upped Vulnerability to 10/10. More resist reduction is always good.
-Maxed out Trozan’s Sky Shard and Shattered Star. Bigger projectiles will make things easier to hit, Shattered Star will allow your Shards to do monstrous levels of damage when you get the extra damage and if it crits.
-Maxed Devastation. More damage is never bad. I recommend getting an Ascendant Hood at some point Be wary of the energy cost on this and Trozan’s with the point investment. If you have issues, I recommend using Ectoplasms, a Focused Prism/Seal of Annihilation, investing in Mental Alacrity a bit more or if it’s really bad, look at taking the Harp devotion.
Some other minor random removals or placements of single points just to round a few things out.
I think this is one of your main issues - you’ve gone a bit proc-happy and picked up several whilst neglecting to take anything for defense. As I mention above, I would drop a few and pick up some defensive devotions such as Behemoth, Chariot of the Dead or Crab.
You might want to look at Solael’s Witchblade, Widow and Mumur as well as these all provide sources of resist reduction specialising in Fire, Lightning and Cold respectively. I don’t expect you to take all 3 but if one offers an affinity you need, you may as well take it.
Something else I want to mention are your celestial powers and what you’ve bound to them.
Take Elemental Seekers, currently you have Trozan’s Sky Shard bound to it.
The problem with this is that Seekers has a cooldown of 1.5 seconds (less with CDR) whereas Trozan’s has a cooldown of 3 seconds (less with CDR). There’s roughly a second (more considering how slow the shards fall) where you could have another seeker up but don’t. For celestial powers like this - you want a fast, spammable skill or something like Curse of Frailty that “ticks” every second bound to them to see them proc often and soon as possible.
Edit: I’m going back to playing now, lost myself for a while there
This was really helpful, I’m still thinking how to change my devotions but I understand what I was doing wrong, thx.
