Greetings, GD Community

Newly-initiated Patron here. I’ve only recently stumbled upon this game, after using Google to find potential Diablo 3 replacements. This one isn’t even out yet, but from what I’ve seen it’s hopefully going to be everything D3 should have been.

I’m very excited about Grim Dawn, and will be waiting with bated breath for the launch. GameSpot has the launch slated for August 31 next year, but I’m not sure if that information is accurate.

I was happy to pre-pre-order Grim Dawn with the knowledge that I’m helping, in my own small way, to develope what already looks to be an amazing game. I only hope that I can provide further constructive feedback here in the forums, along with all of you fine folks.

Cheers!

Hello, and welcome!

I think you’ll find that a story like yours is very common around here. Many of our members are here because of the disappointment that was D3.

Have you played Titan Quest? Grim Dawn will be its spiritual successor, and you’ll probably see it brought up frequently in discussions. If you haven’t played it, I highly recommend it as both a way to keep yourself entertained until GD comes out, and a way to get a feel for what GD might be like.

Welcome to the forums SF!
You’re not the first newcomer to join up after D3, we’ve seen heaps of dissapointed D2 fans that didn’t like D3 come to us, and we all have the same hopes for Grim Dawn, so welcome!
Enjoy your time on the forums

Edit: I agree with Mall Ninja, TQ is a great game and you really should try it if you haven’t already. It is what GD will be, with a few things missing (which GD will improve upon)

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I’ve watched some TQ Let’s Play on YouTube, but I haven’t played it myself. I think the biggest deterrent for me is the setting, which, for whatever reason, doesn’t really excite me.

However, after learning that GD is actually built on the TQ engine, I might download a demo or something just to get a feel for the mechanics.

Trust me, by the end of the demo, you’ll want to buy the full game :p:D

TQ is a great game and well worth playing

but anyway, hello and welcome to the GD community come and pull a chair up and join us for the wait until GD is released, hopefully by the end of the year or start of the next we might have a alpha, so if you got the required GD package from the buy now page, you will be in for a treet

so hi again and welcome

Hi and welcome to the forums - TQ is a beautiful and very enjoyable game even if it is set in a period that holds no appeal for you :). Should you have a Steam account it can be bought for a bargain price Titan Quest Gold

It’s even cheaper on Amazon at the moment for anyone who is interested.

Welcome to the party!

Well, when you’re right, you’re right. I’m only still at the beginning of the demo and I’m hooked. It just functions so well.

I’m a little frustrated that I can’t map skills to my extra mouse buttons, but I’m sure there’s a workaround for that somewhere.

Grim Dawn is hopefully going to expand and refine the mechanics of TQ; if that’s what I can look forward to, then I am going to be very pleased come Alpha-time later this year.

Welcome! I am new myself this week and like many others here spent a ton of time in TQ- I went Loyalist with my pre-order and really can’t wait to give the Alpha and following releases a go… The one thing I kinda like about this project is that it could continue to grow for… who knows? It is obvious that the devs are doing this out of love for the genre and fans of the genre. I really dig the graphical style used and the Conan style drum beat music in some of the vids I have seen- sounds barbaric and fits the Dark world setting great I think. I think once this game hits Steam for release and gets more PR it is going to go somewhat viral. I just hope the devs will always stay true and stick with the fans and their hearts instead of giving in to corporate enticement and greed that could seep their way.

I totally agree with you! That’s what got me hooked, and I’ve been playing it (on and off) since. That and an awesome intro movie that amazes you when you’re 13 like I was when I first played TQ

Not sure about this one for TQ, but I think something like this might be happening in GD

That is exactly what is going to happen and what you can look forward too, except the dev team has made Grim Dawn alot darker than TQ (visually and thematically), and it is a little more “casual-player hostile” (Lead Designer on TQ and GD Arthur Bruno’s words)

Cheers,

If you have any isues and stuff with TQ and when you’ve played it through i suggest going to www.titanquest.net the people there will tell you everything you want to know (and probibly don’t want to know) as well as direct you to good mods and tweaks and other such fun treasures.

Also it is recomended that you get TQVault its a must have for storing your loot and stuff you don’t want to get rid of without taking up storage in the game itself.

Welcome to the Cult of Crate.
