I feel like one of the most painful aspects of Grenado is trying to make it hit the enemies you want. I often feel like I have to run into mob packs to blast them all, rather than just the edge.
Would a change so that Grenado’s detonation is always at the point you targeted, and not upon the first target it hits, be out of the question? It would let you actually throw it into the crowd, rather than at the edge of it, and would make it far more useful at clearing in general. A bonus to making it have 100% target piercing would be that it would no longer get destroyed by enemy projectiles, which would prevent the painful case of Grenado just being nearly worthless against projectile spam.
There have been many threads complaining about Grenado mechanics with nothing done about it.
Why? It’s probably a simple issue of cost-benefit. Grenado is just one skill and the effort required to fix it probably isn’t worth it, compared to the opportunity cost of creating new content or fixing more pressing issues.
For example, the Forcewave bug where it doesn’t travel over uneven terrain is finally being fixed. That’s because ALL wave-type skills are affected by the bug, not just Forcewave. That makes it higher priority than this Grenado-specific issue.
Yes, and yet the fix to Grenado is literally just adding target piercing to it. Unlike wave skills, which is a difficulty in the game engine, Grenado can be fixed by adding a single line of stat code to it. Canister Bomb works exactly the way Grenado SHOULD work, it innately will pierce through the target to land where you clicked, detonate at that location, and done. Canister doesn’t get blocked by mobs to detonate at the point of collision, and all that I ask is for Grenado to do the same.
The issue is that they haven’t wanted to change it. Despite most players complaints about Grenado being the fact that for a cooldown skill the fact it can be KOed by an enemy’s basic attack because it detonates on collision with any entity/projectile. Not looking forward to my Grenado character in Cronleys area with all the gun shots on no cooldown.
Fact of the matter is, Grenado is the way it is because at least ATM, Crate wants it this way. It wouldn’t be hard to change it, because Canister Bomb works exactly the way that most people want Grenado to work. Canister bomb just is more of an AoE crowd control skill compared to Grenado’s high damage but insanely low radius. If I could control the exact area hit as I could with Canister, I could at least ensure that my hits are hitting the priority target, and not the randomly spawned trash that tends to eat most Grenado shots.
Why and how? I think the devs would get just as annoyed as you or I with the collision problems. I think they want to fix it but something is holding them back.
Grenado used to be massively powerful, and it got nerfed. The mechanics it had were acceptable because of the power it had pre-nerf.
It got a needed nerf, and Grenado builds were pretty much removed from the game almost because it no longer had its resist debuff. Grenado was pretty much left untouched after that for a long time, but a lot has changed in the game since then, and they are obviously showing a desire to bring Grenado back with how many buffs to +skills Grenado had this patch, along with the rework of Skyfire Grenado node into a transmutor and instead adding Shattering Blast.
