Grim Dawn Ideas and Fixes

I have put alot of time into this game and just cant seem to get enough of it. A couple things that could make life alot smoother and enjoyable in the Dawn are as follows.

Stash tabs-- You know when you look in your stash and there are 4 tabs are the left, why not put an additional 4 available to unlock on the right side, we need more space. come on, so many items we want to hold onto for other toons, i have having to mule or use folder hacks.

Component Tab- Possibly add a tab that puts your comps into and organized them by what they can go in, for example, if i click on the helmet tab it will bring up all the choices for helmets

MOB health bars–this is a big one for me , i think that if mobs had some health bars above there heads we could not only see all the mobs that are around, some of them are hard to see, but it would give us a better idea of how much damage we are doing and how often. with know real way to see if a skill you just changed it actually making a difference i think have health bars which is pretty much a meter in itself will allow us to visually scale things better

DPS meters–having the ability to see raw data on your toon, will allow you to gear it and fine tune it to the way you like to play, how do you know the new skill you picked up is actually making a difference, how do you know your abilities are functioning to there full potential

Component Upgrading–with so many extra comps laying around and ones from lower level that you dont need at high level, i think a quest should unlock a vendor that allows you to put your extra comps you dont need into a bin or tab and then you hit transmute or something like that and it will generate a random more powerful gem with unique stats.

New classes

Alchemist- a class that focuses on changed the elements during combat using cooldowns and buff rotations, so when you keep a buff up for so long you activate cooldowns to change your abilities to a different damage type

Captain- a new approach to a pet build and support, instead of summoning demons as pets , he / she is a commander of the peoples in grim dawn, devil’s crossing guard, homestead sharpshoot, you get it, he commands the people and summons them as pets and buffs them, kind of like leading your own squad of soldiers into combat.

Devotion- Cross scaling, what i mean by this is activating a new ability when you use certain devotions together, for example if you get lion and anvil, chance on crit will summon and lion hammer that buffs your damage for 10 seconds adding +x defense +x offensive rating and has the appearance of a lion on a hammer something to this degree

well those are my thoughts for now, im sure im forgetting some i have talked about with my buddies. Let me know what you think

Stash tabs-- You know when you look in your stash and there are 4 tabs are the left, why not put an additional 4 available to unlock on the right side, we need more space. come on, so many items we want to hold onto for other toons, i have having to mule or use folder hacks.

You can get this with a mod: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198030096254/screenshots/ . Some people see the limited space as part of the fun. The neccessity to throw stuff away.

Component Tab
Great idea!

MOB health bars
I am completly against it. Not because I don’t like the idea and think it would be helpful but because of screen clutter. The reason a single topscreen lifebar and damage on screen was chosen is likely to remove screen clutter. GD can get really crowded with large packs of monsters and over-head life displays add a HUGE amount of screen clutter.

DPS meters
I don’t really think a DPS meter would really catch the important information that well. I have played a lot of WoW and therefore know how misleading such information can be. But improvements on how much damage you really do are always welcome. I would love it if tooltips would show the real DPS a spell does factored in all the other stats.

New classes
Oh yes! Not necessarily those 3 listed but more masteries in general are good  This is one reason I play a mod with 30 masteries.

I’d like to know who these people are because I’ve never seen any of them before.

I agree, lol i have never seen people who say oh yea this is enough space lol. Another idea i had was that they need to add a reputation tracker bar. you go into the reputation tab and click on which one you want to track, then it adds a bar above the experience bar that shows your progress into that reputation

Firstly, I too am loving this game. My friends and I recently learned about this during one of the Steam sales and it’s literally bringing back those good moments when we first played WoW and couldn’t get enough! :p:D:p:D;)

So I am absolutely loving this game so far.

In regards to definitely fixes, that’s the reason I came to the forums tonight and actually registered as I have a HUGE issues that I really would like solved.

Bounties.

Not the bounties themselves, but the ability to clear a bounty if you have already defeated a particular enemy OR at least have that enemy spawn more frequently. I say this for a number of reasons, especially tonight -

Through my first play through as my main character, I actually killed at least two of the things I picked up, levels earlier. And of course, now that I have an actual reason to kill them (not just the 'oh sh**! It’s a Hero that’s just shown up!), I can’t find them. I’ve made four loops around two areas looking for these mobs and they are no where in sight.

To go with that, I would REALLY like it if bounties actually showed up on the map. I love the visual cues of where a particular thing for a quest lies, so why not with bounties? They’re quests too, so why don’t they show up on the map?

Lastly, I noticed a few others mention this too, but I’ll do so as well. I’m so frustrated (realizing my next quest boss is 4 levels higher than me, then roaming around looking for mobs that aren’t appearing) that I stopped playing tonight. Which makes me wish that there was an abandoned quest/bounty option.

Sometimes you get a quest you don’t want and other times, like this, you’re just ‘f*** it. I’m done’, but here you can’t just drop a quest.

And that’s it! Well…there is one thing, but I’m not sure where or how to do this. Obviously as a new player, I’m coming in after all the vets have played, double played, and figured everything out, which is awesome, but there are times where I wish something was updated to reflect an update.

For instance, for one of those bounties I went to YouTube to find where the mob was and again, not where the video said, only to learn that there was an update that moved him? I guess I’d like somewhere (here?) where info on finding stuff or people got updated when there is an update (assuming something changed) But that’s just probably my tired, frustrated mind talking.

Nope, not everything has been figured out yet; I know of certain secrets and techniques that AFAIK have never been posted about before. And I’m sure there are secrets yet to be discovered. Plus GD is still a relatively young game with new things to exploit with every patch. So the opportunity for innovation is still there.

Probably should have included my entire sentence in that quote. I was saying that of older players that have been playing for…a year? I certainly haven’t figured everything out and am still learning.

BUT good to hear that these issues might be corrected in an updated patch. Speaking of, when does the game usually get patched? How will I know? For example, when playing WoW or Diablo 3 or SWTOR, when I was about to start, the loader would turn into a download patch loader (there’s a name for the thing that I can’t think of right now), it would DL and install the patch and I’d be good to go.

Does GD have something similar? Or when I log in to play on the start screen, it’ll tell me it’s been updated?

Sure you do.

A bit over 3 years for some. Earliest builds were closed and on Steam I believe until they gained public Early Access Nov. 2013, which is the point I picked it up, with some here still playing from the pre-EA builds.

Most secrets are already long figured out (and certainly any of the major ones that actually somewhat mattter) tho I still occasionally (rarely) wander into one of the hidden areas that have a chest and the like. I know where most all of them are tho but it’s nice that some still elude me.

Not if you’re not playing via Steam, as the other versions are DRM free and thus do not force updates.

What do you guys think the new classes will be and how many

Wish:

Dual Guns
Dual Shields

Reality:
Necromancer
Necromancer (or maybe Dual Guns)

duel shields would be crazy, lol im not sure how it would work. I think we need some sort of healer or commander of some sort.

Cleric
Commander/Captain
Alchemist
Physic Mage
Aether dagger build
(we need polearms/spears btw)
Necromancer
Guardian

Oh jiaco. 10 cool points awarded. Feel free to strut around with your chest puffed out like a boss.

I would definitely like dual guns. I managed to not only come across the epic justice belt that allows for dual guns, but also made the medal so I could try it on my Trickster. It does seem weird that Night Blades can dual wield, but not guns.

How would dual shields work? Would that take away from a main weapon hand?

I won’t lie…Necromancer would be BOSS. You can sorta make one, I think, with an Occultist and Demolistionist, but it’s not the same. I totally enjoyed raising the dead in Diablo 2 and WoW. I hope raising the dead is a skill.

It is one. It’s just that nobody really uses it as an integral part of their build, for various reasons.

It was in fact the first devotion skill advertised by Crate and everybody was drooling over it at the time.

Dual Tomes for amazing Cooldown Reduction and Energy Regen!

Class would be called: Libriomancer!

less then a month till new content i am stoked

Oh come on guys! If you keep this up they might not release a necromancer at all

Anyways.

Wish:
-Dual Guns (with in built mobility skill, like SS and Blitz for melee. Maybe add Teleport? We can however weapon swap and use the former two)

-Inquisitor (I added it in a poll i made as well, i just find it bad-ass how Creed escaped the Warden despite having no knowledge about the Aetherials)

Also,
Necromancer (can live without a conventional DII clone necromancer, just interested in seeing Crate’s Version.)

They Can use the teleport skill from valadarn. For instant teleport
