I have been playing Grim Dawn since 7 month now and got completely hook on the game.
I’m personally thinking (if it is possible) of giving my current version to a friend and buying the Loyalist Edition for Myself.
What kind of impact would that have? I de-activated Cloud Save a while ago.
Also First Expansion (I’m guessing is the upcoming one and not the Crucible?) included when coming out would solve the fact that anyway I’ll be buying it Day1. I guess that end up not including Crucible DLC.
Could I keep my own Crucible give my Vanilla Game to a friend and actually buy the Loyalist Edition for myself?
Sorry about all of this I’m a complete noob coming from Steam (2 games played. Grim Dawn and Infinity Wars)
If I remember correctly as the keys are separate for the DLC to the game, all you’d have to do is buy the loyalist edition, give your friend the base game key from the loyalist purchase and then when the expansion is released you’ll get another key code to add which will enable the expansion on your game.
The loyalist info etc is tied to your email address you use to buy the loyalist edition, not to a specific steam game.
I hope this makes sense.
So basically you keep playing your game as it is with the crucible and then you just add the key code for the expansion when it’s released.
But even though I’m 99% certain, please wait for confirmation beforehand
You cannot give your friend the current copy as it is permanently tied to your Steam account now, at least not unless you intend on giving them the entire Steam account and creating a new one. You can however still purchase the Loyalist, which comes with an unused game key. Give your friend the game key from this purchase, if you wish. It will have a separate key for the expansion (once it releases) that you can then use with your current account just fine.
Cloudsave has nothing to do with this in the way you are thinking.
As you can probably gather from our above replies, no, this is not how it works once you have activated and begun using something on Steam. It is tied to the account.
If you want to give a game to your friend on Steam, the only options are either buying a new copy and gift it to your friend or get a second key like the others have mentioned. Can’t give away games tied to your own account.
So buying the Loyalist will give me a Key that I can give to my friend and keep everything else.
Gives you Grim Dawn, plus you get the first expansion (when released), digital soundtrack, “Crate Story” PDF, HD digital map & in-game items!
So the Grim Dawn itself will be the equivalent of a CD-Key (that I can give away). Everything else come by itself and I get to keep all of those (via my E-mail address including the in-game items).
And then once the Expansion come out I will receive via my E-Mail another Key to activate the Expansion.
Got all that right?
Can someone confirm it to me and be 100% sure of what they are saying (thanks for the 99% but still you are mentioning to await for a person in a better position than you to give me a definitive answer)
Going in Steam for Loyalist DLC (I got the Map and the Soundtrack working) can’t seem to find the PDF but I might be blind in the Humble page

When I go into my game page under DLC I still don’t see the actual Loyalist Edition.
I’m starting to think Humble might have swapped the two Product Key but I don’t want to register a bad key (or give the Loyalist DLC instead of the GD game to my friend)
I guess the Loyalist Edition isn’t exactly the same as the Steam DLC thus Steam doesn’t register it as owning the DLC and I still have access to the stuff.
You won’t see the Loyalist showing in Steam as it doesn’t and you won’t have a code to enter for yourself as the expansion hasn’t been released and there was nothing you needed to enter on your steam account.
Simply you continue to play as you have, and the only code to be entered at this moment in time is the base game code for your friend so they can play.
It sound to me like you’ve tried to active GD twice on your account, can you just clarify what you did and will try to help.
Edit… just to clarify there is NO expansion keys issued anywhere outside of the closed testers yet, so there’s no way humble can give you an expansion code.
Edit 2… I bought the loyalist edition way back at the start and being a tester I’ve got the expansion and this is all that shows in Steam. As far as Steam is concerned there’s no Loyalist edition as Steam doesn’t sell it, it’s only via this website. Image below.
They gave me 2 Code with the Loyalist Edition (one for GD that I gave my friend and one for the Loyalist Edition DLC) which might not be the exact same version as Steam got in their store (at 9.99C$). End result I enter the 2nd code (one for Loyalist Edition) and the Item are now available in game but it doesn’t show up in Steam. Still haven’t found the PDF will have to look further into the two e-mails I did receive. Soundtrack work perfectly and the Map is there without issue also.
