Grim dawn the best?

Is it the best and fun game?

Hello hyun3225,

and welcome to the forum and grim dawn,

it is definitely a fun game, if it is the BEST game that’s arguable and everybody’s own opinion, to me it is definitely in my top 5 games all times I have played

At the moment it is my favourite, my taste shifts sometimes

Top 3 in the genre, yeah

It’s fun, yes. I personally think it’s probably the best in the single-player ARPG genre at the moment, beating Diablo 3 handily to be sure.

Not played D3 (no interest either), but this game certainly stripped me away from Titan Quest, Skyrim, and even Witcher 3

I have strong (negative) opinions about Skyrim and anything Bethesda/Todd Howard touches but one of these days I need to take a crack at TQ (my brother had Immortal Throne but I never got around to trying it). Witcher series seems interesting but I remember the combat in the first one really turned me off.

Oh yeah, the Witcher series combat takes some getting used to, and just when you think you’ve mastered it BAM! W2 changes it and then it changes again in W3 - I have to admit there were times I thought the combat system was trying to be a card hustler with broken fingers.

Bethesda on the other hand, I think want to be the next EA. Everything Elder Scrolls prior to Skyrim SE was great, but it seems they’re just focused on building themselves a midas udder.

Oh man, my grievances with Bethesda would fill a thread. I’m still considering picking up the Witcher series and just dealing with the combat because I like me a nice story and Geralt seems like an interesting character.

You should read the books too

Is it the best game?

Hm, it´s definitely the best ARPG I ever played. But I´m playing for nearly 30 years now (1988 or 1989, can´t say for sure) and there are a lot of games, I really really liked.

The older ones here in the forum might remember pearls like:

  • Ultima IV/V
  • The Bard´s Tale Series
  • SSI-Games (RPG)
  • Wizardry 7/8

But there are…

  • World of Warcraft
  • Borderlands Series
  • Black Isle/Beam Dog Games (IWD, BG, PS:T)
  • Pillars of Eternity
  • Bioshock
  • Monkey Island

…too, so I can´t say for sure, what is the best game ever (for me).

Grim Dawn is certainly fun when coming home and just want to bash some skulls.

I just want to say that Beamdog has brought laughably little to those games. I’ve seen modders like Gibberlings Three and so on do more for the Infinity Engine than Beamdog.

I didn´t say they have done anything really great to the games.

I just mentioned them because today you would imho better play/buy the Enhanced Editions than the old ones (though they are all standing right next to me).

>tfw I still own all my discs
Feels sort of weird, man.

;)…I have the discs of FFVII/VIII, too.

Well, when thinking about it: I still own all my discs I ever bought.

Yup me too. I only got rid of the original floppies of SimCity 2000, Flashback, and Tie Fighter a year ago.

I have a few discs that are unusable due to wear and tear. Fallout is a goner, the PC Games Magazine thing I have Wizardry 7 on is unreadable, was barely readable when I found the disc. My BG:TotSC disc set has one disc that doesn’t look so good, and my original Total Annihilation discs are absolutely shot. I have a disc repair kit but it’s stashed somewhere in a box and it was never a sure thing (it couldn’t save my Lords of Everquest disc, though that game wasn’t that good anyway)

Okay you made me do it:

That’s only 1 rack

>HoMM fan
>Old Battlefront 2

Very nice. (I had the PS2 version of Battlefront 2.)

Damn I bought a lot of EA  Should be a stock holder.
