Grim Dawn V1.1.2.0 Preview

He is talking about the Demolitionist skill Ulzuin’s Chosen and not the Ulzuin set.

I have to say I LOVE most of the changes, especially the visual stuff and the extra resists and CC resists here and there. It will open more room for customization.

Can’t wait to get my hands on a full Mageslayer set, going from 12% to 18% freeze time in ultimate until the 500% resist kicks in at 25% health could be a game-enabler against nemesis, still totally useless against super bosses (500% freeze resist from the start).

My only complaint is that still I feel Arcanist needs a tiny bit more of love.

I don’t have a retaliation build but it seems they were hit quite hard.

Thanks for the preview.

Thanks for posting these notes and for all your hard work. The visual changes especially are quite time consuming to make and not often undertaken, so those are much appreciated

I am a little concerned with the degree of changes made to Virtue’s set – it would be one thing to remove the Aegis CDR and reduce the bonus damage alone, but you also removed a substantial chunk of the general CDR while simultaneously increasing the base Ascension cooldown and decreasing Aegis base damage/Crit damage on the skill tree. This seems like several changes directly targeted at that build. Was that all necessary? I thought near permanent Ascension was supposed to be an intended feature of that build since the set and base cooldown were quite clearly designed that way.

I guess I am partly wondering what exactly your design philosophy is regarding a build’s intended level of performance. Many builds have been able to complete SR75 and 7 minute buffed Crucible runs, and I don’t see that you adjusted all of them, let alone to this degree.

It just makes me a little disappointed when I was excited to try that build out. Regardless, I’m glad you continue to update and work on the game this much and look forward to playing around with the new toys you’ve given us. Thank you!

Damn, I had a Bonemonger planned to use cold damage as main and now it will get this elemental to aethr conversion. Why not fire to cold and lightning to aether to keep the cold and aethr options open?

It may be the last time actually. I suspect the recent changes did a decent job curtailing some of their power.

Customer often complain

@Zantai, what did you expected ? , You knew it , finally a feedback is a feedback .

They already cancelled that change due to the whining so you have nothing to worry about.

Which sucks because I have an aether build planned. Can’t make everybody happy. :undecided:

That’s right. The first official response was from a programmer in the modding forums who said it would be addressed in “a future patch”. Since it didn’t say “the next patch”, I asked Zantai during a dev stream if it would be in this patch, and he confirmed that it would.

So probably just an oversight when making the change log.

Yes and no. Physical retaliation and %retaliation damage aded to attack (especially Aegis of Menhir, which was over-tuned, retal’ or not) have been but it was expected and wanted.
Acid and elemental retaliation have new options now via items and devotions.

Eye of Reckoning: reduced Movement Speed by an additional 4% while spinning to win

Lame! It was already slow. WTAF?

Excellent news! Thanks, Zantai.

There are a lot of items with 100% damage conversion. I’m sure this was a significant amount of work and am grateful for the update. I am anxious to see which ones have a cool new look (I realize you said many, not all) as I expect it to peak my interest in some items I’d previously ignored.

Really looking forward to the update to Reap Spirit. I didn’t anticipate that, especially the bump up to 18 second lifespan. I’m going to have a lot of fun with this.

Hard to say if this is actually the case. I feel like my Three acid retal sentinel is dead because of the Absolution meganerf. It was the build enabler. Will the new 12% phys res make up for it? Maybe. Hard to say.

And Fervor converts fire to stupid vitality (from a transmuter which iirc overrides global conversion). There goes Fervor’s retal added from Messanger of War flat. Am I right in this assumption?

I scanned the changelog again and can somebody tell me this: why am I still not seeing Rah’Zin or Iskandra? I am happy about the FX changes. But when it comes to balance game, I seriously think Crate should go beyond searching the forums for threads including keywords such as 6:30, 6:20, 6:10 or 75 and blind-nerfing everything inside. Especially when those threads are from 7.1 and earlier (really, show me one op build using Dying God posted in FG).

I don’t understand the anti-terrify crusade. Confuse is hardly any less annoying. I’m still not taking it if I can.

Please remember to behave and actually try the changes in-game before you go off about #deadbuilds.

There is one Warlock build that will (most likely) be completely dead, but it is a build that, I think, very few people play as it includes the most unsupported damage type, Chaos, and most pathetic skill AAR (next to Grenado and Canister bomb)

Build uses converted Chaos AAR and full mythical Clairvoyant set, with focus on stacking as much as critical damage as possible (Dying God helps a lot)

Current Clairvoyant set (before the patch hits) supports Aether/Chaos hybrid build - because it is giving bonuses to both damages types, not to mention really powerful Moment of clarity proc with massive Crit and Aether/Chaos boost.

Build in question, Clairvoyant AAR Warclock, whose main damage dealing skill is transmuted chaos AAR (~40% conversion from chaos to aether on Clairvoyant robe and shoulder armor does not apply on transmuted AAR - it is still full Chaos damage) will be completely broken

New Clairvoyant set:

  • no more support for Chaos damage on items, instead, it is Aether/Vitality
  • no more moment of clarity proc (20% critical damage bonus gone, 200% bonus chaos damage gone), replaced with health restoration

Nerf to Dying God

  • dying god proc was 40% few patches ago, now it will be at 30%

Total Chaos damage in campaign can go up to 3500%
Sheet DPS in campaign mode is around 310k with all buffs.
In crucible (with 4 buffs and a banner) it goes above 400k.
Build was able to complete cruci 150, but never 170.

I didn’t do the math, but I presume the sheet dps will take 60-70% damage nerf with the new changes.

There is a replacement set (Black Flame) but, that will be only one set that will support Chaos Warlock AAR build (down from two, as Clairvoyant won’t be viable anymore)

Another note: with the change that was introduced a few patches ago to the Pulsing Shard, that gave much needed life leech to AAR skill, this item greatly boosted all AAR builds (except the Chaos ones) - with black flame set, you need to decide do you want to keep the 4 set bonus, or swap the offhand and go for life leech - currently, builds who don’t have life leech can’t sustain themselves in Crucible or higher Shattered realm levels for long, so using a pulsing shard is a no brainer.

This means, using offhand items such as:
Orb of Black Flame, Codex of Lies or any offhand that boosts Chaos AAR, or gives Chaos damage or has Chaos resist reduction is pointless because you loose the much needed ability to life leech with the skill.

Perhaps, removing AAR life leech from pulsing shard and putting it in aetherreach gloves or instead giving 50% weapon damage to the AAR might help all builds as opposed to selected few

you can always give the skill transmuter some adcth

Eye of Reckoning: reduced Movement Speed by an additional 4% while spinning to win

Does overcapped movement speed negate this?

Where was this confirmed? Does the new Clairvoyant set have +skill points for Occultists or Necromancers (or both)?

It was shown on stream.

Its a set hybrid of the 3 classes. Like most tri-class sets, it has +1 to each class over the set. IIRC, the helm had occultist and necro, and the wand had the Arcanist ranks.

For Arcanist, it makes AAR aether/vit damage types as the major change.

For Occultist, it makes Doombolt have -50% energy cost, +2M radius, converts the Chaos into Aether, and reduces the cooldown by 1 second. It also adds -24% Aether RR to CoF. The 2M radius 1sec CD redux increase is tied directly to the weapon as well, so you can dual wield it to stack the benefits.

For Necro, it doesn’t really do much to change things, but it adds -50% skill cost to Reap Spirit, making it much more capable of being spammed, especially with Arcanist secondary for Mental Alacrity.

Uh, like under major changes where we redid the set?

Rah’zin is fine.

I don’t have any strong feelings on this matter one way or the other, but I keep seeing complaints about the Terrify mechanic making enemies run away, so we’re trying it a different way on a few skills.

Does this thing have a reset button? I think it’s stuck on repeat.

My favorite part of this post is how you quoted me and then ignored it.

Thats my alarm clock timing you know…

Hi Zantai, any chance that you could also up the -trap RR on the rimetongue set? [emoji14]

It’s not fair that only mageslayer set got that nice additional freeze RR!
