Grim Dawn V1.1.2.0 Preview

oh lol, for some reason i thought there was a forum section for Art that would show pictures etc. of these changes (because it sounded like some people knew what they look like). im dumb, don’t mind me

I thought there were going to be some changes to a shoulder piece to compensate for the loss of Ulzuin’s Shoulderguard? Which is of particular relevance to a Dagallon build. I found nothing in the patch notes, though I might have missed something.

I only see two items of relevance

Fateweaver’s Mantle: added +2 to Static Strike

Which while boosting elemental damage adds flat aether damage and not fire

and

Epic - Mythical Cindervein Mantle: added +2 to Fire Strike

A vitality shoulder piece that while adding flat fire damage has far lower stats due being a lv 82 epic and does not boosting lighting damage.

This does not seem to compensate for the loss Ulzuin’s Shoulderguard at all. Or is this supposed to come in V1.1.3.0 when new items are introduced?

Why did demo and inquisitor miss out on some health regeneration buffs? Sad. Reduced cooldown to dryad is nice IMO.

They didn’t miss anything. Health regen is literally the most useless stat in the game, so it’s just a tooltip filler. :stuck_out_tongue:

This could be interesting

 Btw, some random pic about “providing your personal gameplay
experience rather than focusing on theorycrafting” and one thread
in “Ideas and Feedback” section:

First things first, (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ #deadbuilds, gimmemymoneybackCrate!
…

Now, as for some real reactions :

  • moar diversity for SR, and FX upgrades, awesome, can’t wait to try the new War Cry!
  • curious to see the new SR vendor, and pleasantly surprised by moar mats instead of Set piece dropping, will save quite some time dynamiting SR set pieces. :stuck_out_tongue:
  • really, really like the new leg for Inashkor’s alternative, it felt a little “meh” to have one less item to farm because of this choice.
  • CC resist on blacksmith crafting looks interesting.
  • impatient to see the changes to Conduits.
  • Sentinel of the Three : OMG 12% Physical Resist? And real incentive to use full set for Witchblades? YESSSSS!

- SR set changes : I see people complaining about the Amulet, but it is worth noting that the changes are an overall BUFF to the set.
I know people are kinda dismissing MI Greens, but…
Guys, don’t forget https://www.grimtools.com/db/search?query=kaisan&in_description=1&exact_match=0

Kaisan’s amulets give +1 to all skills. Want a defensive amulet? Farm one, I’m sure you don’t need a double rare one to make your build work!

  • Devotion changes are quite interesting, many unused ones got buffed, Dying God more directed toward Chaos/Vitality builds, as it should :stuck_out_tongue: Loving the fact that Affliction is now a dedicated Acid Retal constellation, it fits with the proc, will be sure to test it.
Dryad keeps getting buffed, will have to try it on a caster at one point.

  • Soldier : mmmh, less incentive to overcap skills, I like that.

  • Occultist : moar retal, yes!

  • noticing the disappearance of Terrify, replaced by Confusion. Good change overall, makes the gameplay more focused.

  • and more defensive buffs to DA and Aether resist here and there, much appreciated.

Also, I’m noticing that despite what Z said, no new items in this upcoming patch, and no Rogue-like dungeon. You know what it means…

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Crateliedtous!

Errr, I mean, moar to come in the future! Always moar! Many thanks for all the devs for the continuous support, GD is truly one of the shining stars of modern A-RPG!

Yeah, I’ve been farming the amulet for a while.
All I need is Incorruptible or Thunderstruck with any passable suffix and I’m set.

Zantai-Dono thanks a lot.

Seems my Acid Retal Dervish has come out relatively unscathed!

The corrections to RF & Savagery should be interesting, particularly for my alternative Non-Belgo Pierce Dervish (Not using full set).

I’m liking the changes, but as always, many folks will be triggered.

is this what I think it is?

Footsteps prints in the sand? If yes then thank you for listening Zantai! Finally our sands are better than Egypt’s!

Thank you Crate! How I love you guys and your fantastic game!

What i will never understand is why you choose to fix some Skills with (mostly) Endgame Sets and some skills get meaningful overhauls:confused:

Canister Bomb is basicly a dead skill until you get to level 94 (Barrelsmith). Now after the patch its a dead skill until level 75 when you get the changed Ulzuin Set. It feels terrible to level with even if you use it with other Fire Skills.

Then we have Albrechts Aether Ray that suffers from the same fate of being a bad Skill but it gets exactly what it needs as a baseline change AND it gets a whole set reworked for it.

Why is there no meaningful change for Canister Bomb that makes it feel better for the early- and midgame? Like giving it the Cooldown reset proc on the skill itself and replace it with something else on the Ulzuin Set. That would do wonders for the early usage.

Please take a closer look at Mythical Riftwarped Grasp - for now it grants flat chaos damage to Doom Bolt on the one hand and 25% Chaos Damage to Vitality Damage convertion on the other hand …

We already have a good opportunities to convert chaos to vitality and if there is an issue - please post build calc to show the problem.
List of items with convertion:

You could replace doom bolt bonuses to vitality, as there is another chaos gloves with chaos doom bolt.

https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9120
Another weird uncalled change.

It’s actually a great change. This is the kind of conflictual conversion that was only reducing the dps of builds that wanted to use this. For instance, I have this spamming Doombolt Deceiver in store, with this change and the new FX, first buiild to try when the patch hits
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/w26WnKbV

Edit: opinions are divergent on this topic :stuck_out_tongue:

Other examples of conflictual/useless conversion:

  • Wyrmborne Mask and Codex of truths: HoG lightning is polluted by elemental (-33% lightning as a result)
  • Dawnshard Chest Armor: I already expressed my misunderstanding about this item. With the Dawnshard “Set” having fire retal, %retal and +skill to fire abilities, why this fire to lightning conversion ?

I do too.

why should the Blightlord’s set granted skill be changed into a proc?

I think the best fix is just a massive reduction in its cooldown. The skill has 7 seconds of cooldown while not being any better then skills with 4 seconds.

And honestly I am rather doubtful that Canister Bomb is any good with the Ulzuin set as its conflicts with all other items that boost it and does not boost grenado at all, unlike the Barrelsmith set. To add insult to injury Barrelsmith has -2.5 Second Skill Recharge to Canister Bomb while the Ulzuin set has only 0,5.

This gloves from range chaos set. I don’t like an idea to use it in every chaos build, so an alternative is welcomed. BTW, we already have this axe with mod for vita doom bolt.

I would agree with changing the doom bolt bonuses to vitality and keeping conversion. It seems pointless to have two gloves boosting chaos DB.
This could also be great with the new Clairvoyant set especially if cast speed is also added.
