Grim Dawn Version v1.0.0.8 Preview

unknown soldier’s last point was so bad people didn’t take it. now the constellation itself got worser? hmmm

exactly what I thought when i saw the changes. At least compensate the nerf by buffing the last skill on it so we have at least some reason to take it.
and yes…

all that northerm wyrm need is attack speed
: )

It’s actually very simple…they work the same as they did and there’s no noticeable difference in use… As for the pet bonuses, how the bloody hell else do they compensate for an aura that would affect pets if there were any about otherwise…Are you that stupidly dense to not understand basic facts and how an aura works compared to a self buff.

Very simply keep ranting about stupid shite that doesn’t actually exist beyond your imagination and have you even tried this build and these auras yet as I’ve played with if for quite some time and not had any problems with these new auras

As always when a balance patch rolls over us, it brings a lot of controversy with itself.
I like the DA boost to devotions, but at the same time I do feel concern about nerfing defensive skills, resistance reductions and adcth. Hope it won’t place us in the same spot as we are now, as in: we have more defence, but take longer to kill monsters and in the end get the same ammount of damage as we are getting now.
Don’t really mind the auras getting turned into selfbuffs as long as our pets will also benefit from them, I pretty much play only SP. My buddy will feel salty on our sunday runs though, lack of my Aetherward aura will sink his Aether resist
Appreciate the buff to resilient plating that I pointed out lately. Though I don’t see if it’s changed to “used in all armor”. If the gear dependencies are kept as they were, I think it’ll still lose to silk swatch in shoulders and chest.

Alkamos in the Steps of Torment and Shar’Zul in the Bastion of Chaos can now drop new Legendary versions of their unique equipment on Elite and Ultimate difficulties.

Does that mean those aren’t Ultimate drop only? Van Aldritch scepter also can drop in Elite? What about other legendary MI, I know Mogdrogen does drop legendary shoulders in Elite, but what about Anasteria, Mad Queen and Sentinels blueprints?

Well then add me to this list then, and just because we two are the only ones who complain here doesn’t mean we two are the only players to want to or have pet based builds. It is lazy.

Let’s face it if people want to play hardcore then power cuts, software bugs whether OS or game or general computer crashes is and always will be a thing, and they all jeopardize your character. If you don’t accept or understand that then don’t create one. You’re always taking a chance and this is no different and changing the core game for everyone because you couldn’t be arsed to continue looking for said bug is and always will be lazy and a cop out. This is the first time I have spoken up with an opinion on one of Crates patches but this I felt was needed.

Tony.

Any ETA on the patch? Weeks, months?

Also does this affect the translation files?

“Powerful”.

As if that’s the point.

If it’s true that most people play SP, the number of people affected by the bug is even smaller, and thus the reason to kill the mechanic based on this miniscule number of people that run hardcore characters in multiplayer with unknown random people that are not aware of the bug and just happens to be one of the people that is struck by it is even more ridiculous, before we even consider issues of laziness and incompetence.

Well then add me to this list then, and just because we two are the only ones who complain here doesn’t mean we two are the only players to want to or have pet based builds.

Pet-based builds are not affected by this change at all. It’s basically a SC multiplayer vs HC multiplayer conflict.

Your character can’t die if the game stops, so no reason to bring up power cuts etc.

I accept the risk of screwing up and losing a character. It would be my fault. Losing your character in unpleasant, but it’s part of what’s fun in HC. There’s no reason to play HC if you never lose a character.

Dying to the bug is a completely different case. I would never accept dying to the bug as the part of the risk HC player takes. Not sure how it’s fair that I need to be wary of it every time I want to play with a friend or trade with someone.

It’s not SC vs HC, it’s people who don’t care about dying and people who do.
OK, in HC you care a bit more than in SC. But in SC, it’s still an issue.

The only people affected by this are the people relying on the aura of their friends. So mainly the aether/chaos resist auras.

Maybe the best would be to give everyone a free +20% resist againt aether and chaos? 0:)
[someone HAD to try]

Nice
Only thing i want more is some Chaos-rr on CoF/Vulnerability.
Only a little bit…

I will also add you to the list of people who complain without knowing what they are talking about then. Pet builds are not affected, read more closely.

Also, you know nothing about software development either. If you cannot reproduce a bug, it is pretty much impossible to locate and fix.

sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about (laziness and incompetence)

the bug is severe enough that it needs addressing, it got addressed in a way that negatively affects almost no one. Is it ideal, no, but it is the best option, you are just clueless

Is it technically possible to exclude Purified Salt/Imbued Silver/other non-damaging component auras from the aura changes? Does that change have to be all-or-nothing? Or were those auras somehow killing people as well?

nerf melé other and other. incredible

and not is better buff the other? no is better nerf, nerf and nerf again. incredible

I read about people killing with these auras as well. So yes, it has to be like that.

P.S. I can sympatize over damage auras, but making Purified Salt/Imbued Silver only work on user is perfectly justified and I was thinking suggesting it before. It always struck me as unfair that people playing in MP basically get extra 20% aether+chaos resistance while me playing SP can’t afford even one of these on most builds I play.

P.P.S. Imo devs can go further and just integrate the effect into component without the need to activate it.

No, it is not better to adjust 99.5% of the game upwards instead of 0.5% downwards. While the outcome ideally would be the same, it definitely is a lot more effort…

Also, pretty much all patches so far had far more buffs than nerfs, but when something gets buffed people rarely complain, while they apparently always do when something is nerfed, no matter how minimal or justified that is

I wouldn’t call the sweeping nerfs to literally every skill used by S&B physical soldiers "“minor” changes. The end result remains to be seen, but I am highly doubtful this archetype will be able to clear cruicible now.

so literally all skills you use are

  • Menhir’s Bulwark
  • Military Conditioning in ultimate ranks (so maxed plus + to skill)
  • Overguard
  • Shield Training

that is an odd build

also, the changes are small, not sweeping

Thank you for your animated discussion on the upcoming patch.

It is much preferable to have an engaged community that is passionate about the game than an indifferent one.

Based on what we’ve read here and in other sections of the forum, there are some concerns regarding the performance of several melee builds, especially for casual players still working their way up to Ultimate difficulty. This kind of reaction isn’t necessarily new with updates as change (particularly when it involves nerfs) is hardly ever viewed in a positive light by all players.

However, as these changes do have negative connotations, rather than releasing this patch in its current state, it will bake for a few extra days while we go ahead and proceed with a few changes we were planning after the update was live:

Based on how the changes shook out in public, we were considering the following improvements:

  • smooth out the difficulty curve across Elite and Ultimate difficulty so that transition to a new difficulty is not as much of a shock.
  • increase base skill damage on various abilities and Devotion procs, particularly for Blademasters who historically struggled while leveling before shining with end-game gear.
  • reduce monster damage and health on Gladiator difficulty at the highest waves, possibly slightly reduce both on Challenger as well.

It is possible that the combination of the 1.0.0.8 changes and the above will necessitate further adjustments, but we were prepared for that in either case. Stay tuned for the updated changelog posthaste.

That, plus Scars of battle on both my Fire/Burn Commando, Bleed Witchblade and Poison Witchblade. As a bonus i got flat bleed, poison damage nerfs and -RR items deleted from the game.

Physical builds have it much worse due to proc nerfs, ADctH nerfs, Targo nerfs etc etc
