Grim Dawn Version v1.3.0.4 + v1.3.0.5

Sure, but I still think that they shouldn’t budge with the difficulty. @Mr_Zalgo said it well. Elden Ring and Dark Souls are excellent examples. And those games are way more popular than Grim Dawn. Also, of course, way harder than Grim Dawn. Although it’s a different type of difficulty.

Thank you for the “Evade to Cursor” option!

Really enjoying this entire patch and the new expansion. The enemies, sounds, music, area design is all stellar. Congratulations to the entire team for their efforts.

Well it’s still strong enough to one shot me when I stupidly doom bolt the reflect mobs
Needs more nerf to be idiot proof :scorv:

Agreed. As someone with over 1000 hours in this game, I still mostly fuck around with lower difficulties. The idea the core player base is only grinding the hardest content over and over, with a sigh at how it’s too easy, is a stilted perspective from a handful of people. Someone isn’t a casual just because they aren’t fighting The Dread as often as possible on Ascendant mode.

Also, Zantai, I just want to thank you for all your hard work and patience with this community. It can’t be easy, and as someone who’s loved Grim Dawn for a long time, I’m glad you’re here. You’re a star. :star2:

Do I understand correctly that the problem is still relevant? There are two clips, one in 1.3.0.3 (yes, before the fix, but the character lived longer there) and in 1.3.0.4 - the attacks were dodged, but the character was annihilated.

Clips:
1.3.0.4: Bug - Alkaizerx on Twitch
1.3.0.3: RIP - desenjoyer on Twitch

I see identical character deaths between patches.

When was the stream? Can’t see the version number in his clip.

In the right corner inside the clip I see 1.3.0.4. At 0:20 in the clip.

Or maybe, just maybe have the altar do the job for those who really want to bang their head against the difficulty wall.

There is a lot Crate could do to give those people who want abusively hard gameplay. As an example, allow the altar to stack multiple of the same materials per slot. We are only a week in, game will change a lot.

Not directed at anyone: Tribalism at this level is so dumb. There are so many people playing this game on various levels and to assume that someone who just wants to play on veteran as being inferior is…

v1.3.0.4

You just stood in it. So fair game for me. Don´t tank it.

Happened to me as well with one 26k life build.

You got hit twice, first was sunder and the second killed you.

They are exactly the NOT excellent examples; if you play ARPGs for the difficulty, you are playing the wrong genre. This is not a soul-like.

I was there when the “and then we double it” fiasco happened with D3. Most people don’t play ARPGs for the difficulty. If you want to give an example, let’s try with the father of ARPGs—D2. What is the most difficult part? The immunities, and guess what? They were also the most hated thing in the game. Are the people who play D2 for 20 years casual?

Another example is POE2 people play it more than POE1 not because they like the difficulty, but because it’s new, and that’s a fact. The gameplay loop of POE1 is a lot more liked than the slog that is POE2 and even POE2 received nerfs to the difficulty.

Stop trying to turn ARPGs into a different genre; if you want a great challenge, you have plenty of Souls-like.

There’s a bug with the final boss in 1.3.0.0 whereby you can be hit by attacks even after moving out of the areas marked on the ground which I lost an HC character to. Seems to happen randomly depending on where you are in the arena. I’d definitely be very careful if you’re going proceed on 1.3.0.0 in HC.

Aside from the bug I didn’t find the bosses to be particularly overtuned and I was playing a caster that wasn’t especially tanky, but I did have all set gear and/or well rolled greens.

The Ascendant difficulty is for the people who want to play the “wrong game”. For “normal game” you have everything else already. All the content out there which is rightfully getting balance fixes if it was unintended.

That he ain’t know shit about mechanics. Thats all.

I would agree with you if it wasn’t tied to better rewards and progression, but it is.

You can easily do Ascendant mode with a good pre FoA build. So the progression it offers is in no way necessary. The progression is needed for high SR, CR 200 wave and for speedrunners.

Well I guess, we can’t never know for sure what kind of players are those complaining, either way. Could be old fans too used to pre 1.3 type of difficulty, maybe 1.1.9.8. The game has been too easy for some time, so those could be new and returning players alike. So you are right, it might not be casual vs core players, if I look at it like that. Could be anyone, basically.
Those numerous tuning passes led to the game ending up to be too easy. If “changing too much” means returning the challenge back, I’m all in.

Anyway, there seems to be misunderstanding. If it wasn’t apparent from my previous posts, I’m not talking specifically about Ascendant. Can’t really speak too much about Ascendant, only tried it once. I’m talking about overall game difficulty, all difficulties. Maybe this would be reaction aimed at others. I don’t consider myself hardcore top meta build player at all.
I liked when the game was more challenging as a whole, something like at launch in 2016, maybe even earlier in EA. So I don’t specifically only mean Ascendant.
I take issue with you seemingly backing down on your initial intention, to make the game more challenging. As you and Bruno say on Steam. The patchnotes, specifically the point I quoted earlier, suggests you are trying to revert the difficulty.

But other than that, fair. I absolutely don’t want to play opposition. I want to play the game actually, which has been difficult, the wrong type of difficulty, given the severe performance degradation of the game. I really hope there are performance fixes in the works…
I want the game to be the best it can be. I’d like to be on the same boat. I still love the game and think that you overwhelmingly did more things right than wrong
