Grim Dawn Version v1.3.0.4 + v1.3.0.5

Veteran is too easy. I have not played ultimate yet. But I presume it will also be easy.

I reproduced this as well. Using Proton-CachyOS-latest. OS information in the screenshots. Crash location in the other pic.

Buddy, you kind of missed the context and you assume things I didn’t say. I said difficult in a different kind of way. The context was about game difficulty vs sales. And those games are perfect example of very difficult games that sell.

I absolutely don’t want Grim Dawn to become what it’s not, let alone different genre. You completely made that up.
I love what Grim Dawn is. It doesn’t need to become different kind of game to be a more challenging. For most bosses to not die in seconds. For players to not be able to face tank through the game. Crate itself clearly wanted to solve the issue with 1.2 and 1.3.
Was Grim Dawn different game in 1.0 ? You pressume too much and I’m not about to do an essay of my idea of perfect difficulty in Grim Dawn. I trust Crate could make the the difficulty more to my liking, they literally made it with 1.3.
But now it seems that they are backing down because of stupid backlash, and I really don’t like that.

Yep. Could have even been harder still…

Exactly. That’s more in line of what I’m thinking. The responses here talk like it’s only about Ascendant. I’ve played Ulitmate some, and it doesn’t feel any more harder than it was in 1.2. Haven’t got to the hardest content yet, tho.

Probably. Unfortunately, with how bad the games runs for me now, I haven’t got to play much. To judge for myself.
But given how they are making it easier with this patch…

Oh and if it wasn’t clear, I’m not playing some meta super powerful build. My build is not even fully complete yet…

I have zero perfomance issues. Only slightly lower FPS in Kurnhold and an occasional crash. Nothing gamebreaking.

I play builds for SR 36+ but nothing dealing heavy damage typically.

Played the campaign for the first time in like 6 years… Totally SSF chaos raven on vet.

The best evidence I have for Veteran not being too difficult is playing multiplayer for the first 50 levels on new characters. Even with multiplayer-scaled monsters, when someone is caught out alone, away from everyone else’s energy and health and defense auras, they don’t particularly struggle or explode into pink mist, even when still wearing Lokarr at level 55. The only difference I have noticed (excluding the bosses that may have had wrong skill damage numbers, which should be fixed) is bosses have more health, which is generally fine. They have a chance to do something now.

Well, seems like with Grim Dawn, there’s big RNG on how it runs on different systems. I see people with less powerful PCs having better performance than I do… Plus the eternal CPU utilisation issue, which has always been a problem for me. But now, there are even more issues atop of it with FoA. Now even the GPU is a problem, it seems. GPU demands from the game, I mean.
Glad it’s okay for you, though.

I play Targo Warlord… with 2600OA and 15000HP  Not only it’s not complete, but apparently there’s been some nerfs even. Something that not many people play.

I just had this occur on some enemies (trolls) and their weapons. I’m on 1.3.0.4 on GOG. (I’ll try verifying my files.)
Did a reinstall to be sure. Didn’t help. Also occurs on spiders and others.
Wasn’t an issue on 1.3.0.0

Changing to low makes 75 FPS up from 60 at Very High at Kurnhold Rift. So it makes some difference but nowhere near double increase as in other parts of the game.

This problem also occurs on Windows 10

I think the balancing is good, I mean that’s what the Altar is for if you want a bigger challenge? Reducing the health pool is not a big deal, just makes the fight a little shorter.

Quite alot of stutter still with the new content on amd 7600 32gb ram and a 5070rtx in 1440p even when i changed what cpu core should run the game. Pre-1.3 its only stuttered from time to time with 15+ pets with 5 auras and total chaos on the screen. Loving the new zones so far tho, keep on rockin!

Guys, you’re talking as if the game were a bed of roses. But that’s not the case. Anyone seeing this would think you’re running Greater Rifts in Diablo 3. The bosses are quite challenging, and the trash mobs are just right. You don’t just mow down monsters with your hands in your pockets from start to finish. Even with full resistances, if you don’t pay attention to a boss’s movements, you’ll die instantly after sunder. The game isn’t too hard for sure, but it’s definitely not too easy either. And it never gets boring. Not only does the appropriate difficulty level prevent that, but the game’s brand-new atmosphere, music, and story won’t let it happen either.

Saying the game is too easy will hinder its potential for growth. After all, we also have to consider those who haven’t purchased this expansion yet and are still observing it. I’m writing this based on 64 hours of experience with this expansion pack. This isn’t a Souls game where every monster you encounter poses a life-threatening danger. Of course, the developers, the Crate team, know best, but I believe there has to be a balance in A-RPGs. From what I’ve seen so far, this balance has always been maintained. When 1.3 first came out, the damage dealt by some bosses was noticeably unbalanced; the developers noticed this and fixed it. If they see that the game’s difficulty level is being disrupted by new items, I’m sure they’ll step in again. Dramatizing this difficulty issue so much does nothing but harm the game we love so much and the wonderful people who developed it.
Best Regards.

It does harm it. Also you are missing the point - we’re not talking about the whole game being too easy. We’re talking about Ascendant mode getting nerfed specifically, which was supposed to be a test for finished builds,(even at it’s baseline difficulty), not a ā€œget there as soon as you hit Ultimate or level 100 kinda difficulty stuffā€ because that’s no different than Ultimate.

And the difficulty of the game is Imo actually what’s been truly hindering it for years. I was glad it was getting changed, in, at the very least, one area/part of the game. Many of players in the current playerbase that I know did want a more challenging experience as well, because the base game is simply too boring. The game isn’t that easy when you start it, but at some point, and trust me - a few hundreds of hours maximum, not a few thousands you will also think it’s easy too. It’s only a matter of time, which is much shorter on Grim Dawn than it is on other arpgs pretty much. Grim Dawn isn’t really a very grindy type of game, at some point you just spam build after build, and significant most of the builds is predetermined by item skill modifiers already anyways, so you don’t really need to hit your head on a wall.

Hindering it from becoming what? Diablo 4 is way easier and is one of the most sold and played ARPGs ever.

The current playerbase has already bought the game and Crate has basically made all the money they can from them (with the exception that they might buy a loyalist pack or consider buying a certain DLC) - they should only make the game better for you if they think they can make more money out of it (reviews, mouth to mouth, etc)

When I think a game has become ā€œtoo easyā€ for me, or ā€œnot funā€ - I quit it and play another game. Especially games that I have payed for once and for all. I had my fun time with those 30 bucks, why should I linger any longer?
