Grim Dawn vs Ashes of Malmouth Comparison

Nice!! can’t wait

Cool downs are not necessarily a problem if the summons up time is reasonable (lasting an entire boss battle) or CDR wasn’t capped & resource intensive to spec for large amounts of.
Unfortunately they only stick around at 20 seconds a pop for most summons meaning chaining multiples to get a decent cohort going is next to impossible.
Quite frankly the game is anti conjuror.
It’s also anti ranged, but fails at it due to monsters trying to stack AOE & DOT’s primarily in nova’s or aura’s that hold melee characters over a barrel while proceeding to the unmentionables.

It doesn’t need equilibrium as much as it needs to remain unique and one is always a trade off for the other.
The other fact of the matter is people play the game in different ways.
Yes there are the competitive gamers crying for balance constantly to make it as bland as possible for the sake of the ladders.
Crate will never win that battle because it always ends up as a battle of ego rather than substance (wired vs wireless mouse as an example you may blame the equipment, but it registers faster than your brain does).

So what about the casual crowd wanting a one button solution?
How bout the working class gamer who doesn’t want to sift through pages of how the game works in combining damage types and percentages just to make a viable build?
What about the action crowd who abhor grinding with the shift to legendary items being the must have for builds because all else are sub par?
You can’t be a Macdonald’s chain and a 5 Michelin star restaurant at the same time.
The difference really coming down to the quality trade off; in Crates instance a product to be enjoyed by as many as possible or a focus on ladder play; they’ve already expressed they don’t want the console crowd so if you expect any different you were going to be disappointed.
I’m a firm believer in you reap what you sow and it’s obvious the choice they are going with.
Time will tell if the old proverb once bit twice shy rings true when from what they’ve laid on the table has the expansion revolve around two new masteries (a 50% focus on the old D2 necromancer crowd [because lets face it who’s buying it for another non-procedurally generated ‘level’ to grind on to scaling mobs for the same hackney RNG combine items?]).

Sorry but are you thinking about the same game as everyone else here ?

There’s NO ladders in GD and never has been.

Crate are working on a console version at this moment and have been for a while.

A Necro can easily have 10+ summons up that last until they die with NO timed limit and that’s just using 3 skills in the Necro line.

Maybe try discussing GD next time.

turns out this has a lot more content than Immortal Throne itself,… if I remember that one has like only 30ish quests, 1 act, 1 mastery…

price justified… now where is the buy button? perhaps need to get the loyal version now:rolleyes:

No, it’s not. My Conjurer (Occultist/Shaman) has 5 permanent summons from skills and gear: Hellhound, Familiar, Briarthorn, Yeti and Skeleton. The only temporary summons is Primal Spirit. As Jaknet says Necromancer’s skellies will add even more numbers plus that mastery also has Blight Fiend (another permanent summons) and Reap Spirit which is temporary.

Based on the scaling of the skills on grimtools you can get 11 skeletons if you ubermax Undead legion.

So total possible perm-pets 11 skeletons 1 Blight Fiend, then you can get at lest 4 perma pets from items (not including proc ones or multiple summons if any), 1 Raven, 1 Hellhound, +devotion summon. That gives us a minimum of 19.

Yeah but IT was one of the best looking areas! Nothing comes close to those. Cerberus towers… siege area with catapuls throwing explosions… weather sfx!
And act5 after beach with woods and creatures…
IT will be forever best area/creatures content in hacknslash games.

FTFY  /10char

Its better than HL2 episode 3! and Im glad you agree!

Between your “Toilet flush” thread and this I really love your sense of humor

Did you listened to the mp3 I uploaded recently? Its EXACT sfx on that matter. I swear its really the kind of sfx movies make… or duke nukem would use. Can you check it? And explain what is that noise if its not the flush sound?

I reuploaded recently check last post.

Back on topic: what kind of monsters will Malmouth flush on us and his plague… We need heroes!

I don’t get it.
The image says 55 set items in the vanilla grim dawn game. But Grimtools counts 68. 41 epic and 27 legendary quality. Why are 13 sets left out?

because they are empowered versions of epic sets, not truly new sets. That was done for the expansion as well, so the comparison should still be ok

Looks like there are 13 below level 50, so that might be it.

Zantai had answered that some pages ago, so that should be it

Because normal and empowered versions of an epic item are only counted once. The same applies to the AoM count.

Loving it already. Thanks for the great work.

This DLC is a beast that show how is the DLC’s gonna be. it includes so much bosses new legendaries and nemeses too. Thanks for the good work keep it up!

I really like the continuation of the story!

Keep it comin Crate
Best arpg I have played
