Grim Misadventure #109: A Look Back at 2016

^Because conversion is the only way that we should get access to more aether damage other than arcanist.

I’m not saying that, and I wouldn’t complain if we got a mastery with more Aether support. But Chaos is definitely hurting a lot more than Aether is.

I thought we have plenty of chaos skills for casters through conversion.

Cold and Vitality i agree though.
True but the conversion therein is usually found on an item slot overlapping sources of Chaos and Cast Speed. For instance, suppose Blood Orb of Chthon were the only such form of chaos conversion; then any other focus with Chaos and Cast Speed would be worthless.

This is one of the great failures of the present conversion system. It’s really no substitute for base skills.
Chaos conversion, in gear and in skills (and Devotion), really kinda blows and is hard to effectively build around.

woweeeeeeee… Man this game is great!

exactly, I’m glad there’s still people who can understand this.
I clearly stated “poorly integrated” and “low level”.
In the highest difficulty (ultimate), it’s very important that we have some kind of
“-res to damage type” skills to debuff enemies and there’s only one skill that can do it for chaos damage : the thermite mine. And thermite mine requires enemie to stay on its spot which is kinda small and enemies move all the time(you can counter this only by curse of frailty if you play pyromancer but i haven’t seen anyone posted any effective chaos pyromancer builds thus far).
And effective chaos damaging skills requires you to be somewhat high levels for it like Aether Ray and Motolov (I find Nether Edge dealing too low chaos damage for chaos build) I find it tiresome and lacking the feel that you can “grow up” with chaos build.

Thank you sir Ceno, you just saved my day.

There’s two more masteries, and more constellations.

I think Crates can integrated all the aether, chaos, cold skills to those if they feel like it.
No need trying to oversimplify that “only Aether needs supplement”.

It was a good year~
Increased level cap, devotion cap and new constellations? That’s what I like to see. But I do also hope that there won’t be any skill point cut trojan horse’d into the works, like past level 85 we’ll be getting only 1 skill point per level :stuck_out_tongue:
Also wonder what the new features will be, but I guess there is still some room for new stuff, like a NPC that “sells” timed buffs similar to Crucible’s celestial power’s for example.
Servitor (how the file is called) look,s not bad, though I can’t look over how it most likely will recycle dermapteran animation set.

In the latest stream the devs confirmed that you would gain 0.5 skill point per level, meaning you can only invest them every other level

I’m guessing there won’t be any more new content till the expansion. The Vallbury was the last new content, right?

Most likely no more new content until the expansion. Vallbury was the last new content.

You did a good job there)
The guy is from russia. They seem to have a native forum about books, tales, movies, music and stuff. And someone got a weird idea it may be great to machine-translate it to english for foreighners to read.

I have a great time reading those posts though. Always puts a smile on my face.

Someone should finally ban this guy.

Freedom of speech is great and stuff, but reading few illegible trash posts from him every day gives me cancer. I mean, why do he even bother if he doesn’t understand a thing and cannot reply in such a way that is understandable for everybody - not just him alone - and forces his persona upon other users. It’s spam basically.

I know his trying, but why won’t he just go to his folks over to russian community. It’s probably as big as the international community of Grim Dawn with every other country combined.

Gosh, I got triggered every time.

Works for me, I just started playing again after an 8 month layover…I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!

Most of the dates that they have shot for have been missed, some by several years.

No complaints here though ofc, I was happily playing the game long before it went “live”. And, I do agree that it was well worth the wait for the majority of players who didn’t start playing until the overwhelmingly positive reviews came out and they could get it on Steam.

Also, I will say that I’m quite impressed to see the continued work on the game since I took my hiatus…keep up the great work guys!

No way, the best way to experience it is to completely delete the game and start the grind all over again! That takes discipline, but it’s so rewarding.

Naw, it only helps the game to have people from all over the world want to be involved in it. It bugs me trying to read through weird posts like that, so I skip them unless I’m really bored. No harm to the rest of us I think.

If he is banned then this forum would have the number of memes that get posted in it reduced by half. :p:rolleyes::smiley:

I came for the load-blowing references. Zentai didn’t disappoint.

No really, I came.

Please let there be randomized layouts, please let there be randomized layouts, please let there be randomized layouts…

not gonna happen since it isn’t possible with the current engine.

As much as I would love randomy generated dungeons, I know the actual engine can’t do it but maybe it could be possible to upgrade it in a future expansion. However I don’t have high hopes on this.
What could be more feasible is to add random affixes on monsters that give them powers, aura and special skills : Frozen, Illusionis, Teleporter,Waller, vortex,Electrified, plagued, molten…

For example in Diablo 3 the Arcane enchanted give a more strategic gameplay by giving the player a way to avoid the damage if they are careful.
Monsters imbued with the Arcane Enchanted trait can summon glowing orbs of arcane energy that fully form after a few seconds. Once activated, these transform into rotating beams called Arcane Sentries

Do I got news for you
