But it would be like if in Diablo 2 the PC didnt fight the Prime Evils but some of their underlings (like in that accursed abomination which ruined my childhood Diablo 3 where you fight the 7 Sins. They didnt had any established lore beforehand apart from what you know from mythology - still they were lame and not much impactful ).
Indeed my fear is that because FG could be finished before Log/Theodin it will be either possessed Kymon (or some other henchmen) who is doing something to help reincarnate Korvaak. So you defeat him, stop the process and Korvaak is again gone. It would be an utter cliche and i know Crate are quite above doing cliches so there is still hope!!! Korvaak for final boss!
Jokes aside - considering we wont be seeing more GD anytime soon - this would be the final chapter in the game. So why not just allow for the PC to feel powerful and accomplish something meaningful (like killing Log?). Reason is one - fun
what it means is that FG will have technical dependencies to AoM and there won’t be two versions, one for vanilla GD without the AoM masteries and one for AoM.
You can reach the FG content after act 1, so not sure where your idea of higher difficulty content comes from.
Even if it were after AoM you having a handful more levels does not explain higher difficulty either, that is what level scaling is for.
Come on we can topple gods too.
based on what ? we have not toppled any and struggle with avatars that are a fraction as powerful
More importantly, it completely flies in the face of everything so far. I would be disappointed if we did fight a god in the end.
I know you are not saying that, but that is the point, fighting an actual god should be a lot harder than those fights - and if that is too hard (it is), then you simply need to fight something else, not dumb down gods.
People went insane just from seeing what amounts to a minor god, which for all intents and purposes means you lost that fight right then and there
if the premise of Forgotten Gods way back when it was announced. in goes on to say: “The flames of a forgotten god have been rekindled, sending ripples through the Eldritch realm and sowing terror even among the Witch Gods themselves.”. I dont know about you but that sounds we are fighting an enemy stronger than theodin marcell here!
in GD you are fighting Chthon and the Circle of Five, yet you never actually face any of them (for good reason…), what makes you think you are out to slay a god now ?
To me this sounded more like ‘investigate’ than ‘kill’
You could have made that very same argument for vanilla GD already… GD is not D2
considering we wont be seeing more GD anytime soon - this would be the final chapter in the game. So why not just allow for the PC to feel powerful and accomplish something meaningful (like killing Log?). Reason is one - fun
First of all, you can accomplish something like killing Log, Log is not a god, just a powerful servant. No problem with something like that.
Second, you cannot kill an actual god just because you might think it is ‘fun’, that would be inconsistent with everything we learned / experienced in GD and AoM.
I am not saying we cannot have an epic boss fight, I am saying that boss cannot be a god
Speaking about (maybe) fighting eldritch entities with help, wouldn’t it be cool if Uroboruuk helped the PC in the final boss fight - or, as the case may be, the PC helped Uroboruuk fight it?
nah, me being the sidekick in the final fight is not what I am looking for
Don’t dumb down gods so I can beat them, don’t make me a bystander in the final fight so two ‘gods’ can duke it out instead of me getting insta-killed by one
Oh, I don’t know. Watching two gods duke it out would make a change from me always getting insta-killed. Would be a very boring ending for the expansion though.
No, it’s running as normal. Maybe we’ll get a stream this Friday, maybe not. Next Monday we’ll have another GM. Not sure what else you seem to think you should be getting. This is par for the course and not likely to change just because you want it to. Bugging Big Z for more news will probably just make him laugh evilly and delay giving you any even longer.
Maybe it Plays when you face korvaak/empyrion, depending on the decision made when you chose one of the factions. Or again a statue bossfight like the one in TQ with the Pharao Guardians
I want to be excited this next gm but I fear it will be entitled Grim Misadventure 142: Beyond the Lava!
please let me be wrong this time just once so we can see new game mode and mastery instead of areas. Fans are dying inside and want to see some new exciting stuff to think about
