Grim Misadventure #155: Refined Loot

Yes, pretty please!

Improved loot filter looks very promising.
Drop rates for rare items are super high, and especially in Ultimate, the screen is quickly cluttered with greens, most of which are not worth wearing, but one does feel obligated to look at all of them, because greens can roll godlike.

Great addition to GD, free of cost even.

i agree. to be honest (and i know that’s a pity) i rarely even look at regular greens anymore. with quite a limited playtime, i rather actually play my chars, even if i’m sure i lost some gems that way. but killing mobs is way funnier.

I really like how well refined and modernized such an old engine has become.
These guys are badasses to a whole new level
Release date <3 ?

All these QoL features we’re getting lately are amazing as hell! Now we only need unlimited storage(or like 99 tabs), so we dont have to use annoying tools, with which its easier to lose savegames, as well as having to disable cloud sync etc. (recently switched back to mules because item assistant is too annoying to use, when you play on laptop and stationary)
In any case, amazing job Crate!

Me too. The filter looks awesome. But I think that we have waited too long. We need a trailer, a date, something to keep the hype high.

That was a ironic post.

Great overhaul of the loot filter. Definitely a lot of people will be happy with this!

Currently, the filter works by always showing the filtered loot, without pressing any button to toggle them.

In the middle of combat with lots of hero enemies, it can clutter the screen really quickly, even before the combat is over.

So the filter needs to be turned off before the combat, and then turned on again, after combat, to show the relevant items. If you press ALT (default) to toggle quickly, it will show all items without any filter.

Will the new filter work in a way, that we select what items we are interested in, and these items will only be displayed if we press a button (ALT for example)?

Didn’t look like one.

why make a trailer when you can spend the same time making the game? 'Sides, you can probably find people who have so much time to kill they could easily hack together a good piece from the youtube stream dumps using music from the clips.

New item filter look awesome. There is one thing that would also help a lot for those of us who have accumulated many objects in the stash. An item filter for inventory and stash xD.

I can see the loot filter as a really nice addition, but mostly for new players that want to get rid of the bloat that loot can be sometimes. It may help to focus new runs on a specific type of damage etc.
Looking forward to FG!

From my post on Reddit:

I’m extremely excited about FG and was very happy to see the new loot filter shown in the latest dev stream.

However, one of the key features that I would personally want in an advanced loot filter is to tell us if the rare item that just dropped was a normal, double or triple rare. I really hope i’m wrong, but the new filter does not seem to have an option to highlight this difference.

I was expecting the in-game loot filter to replace the need for the awesome Item Filter Mod that essentially identifies double and triple rares. Crate, please make this happen!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
we get loot filters
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Back in my day we could only filter broken and common items and we had to pick all other items separately, holding a key and picking everything by-hand, filtering magic+ items also by-hand.

I just felt like saying that, and I wonder how many people will realize which game I am talking about. I believe everyone knows, but still, I am not cool as fuck because of this post.

I have yet to see any other ARPG, or even MMO, have such a detailed loot filter. (will not be surprised if some of them will be ripping this off in the future). Bravo! Much like how you guys revolutionized the stash in Titan Quest with the transfer stash, now you have done it with the loot filter.

Titan Quest? Diablo II? I think neither of them had a loot filter apart from using ALT to show either nothing or everything.
Thoughthe loot management in Loki was the worst (then again, most of everything was the worst in Loki but I had to try every ARPG just in case) - it had a system where you equipped items by using a system that was only seen in NES and other old console RPGs by ticking a box and scrolling through a throng of items per category. And selling stuff was equally complicated.

I also have to agree that a double rare affix option is missing. Double rare affix items are some of the most interesting loot drops we can get and with such an advanced loot filter we should be able to look for those specifically.

Otherwise it looks great, I really appreciate that you guys implemented this! Now add the one missing checkbox to it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Are the mechanics of filtering item drops available to modders so they can in effect design there own unique loot filters?

We will add a double-rare qualifier before it’s released.

These are very much on the code end, so not easily modded without coding experience and hard mods.

This has made my day.
