Grim Misadventure #194 - Enter Asterkarn

Surely.

The new environments look fantastic! I love the snow and ice themes. I wonder if there will be some lava down in those ice caverns?

damn that’s cold, I’m gladcier you showed us more of the landscapes, and it’s cool. I’m interested to snow what future behold, we might even get as far as farthest frostier :snowflake:

Hot dog baby.
The ice caverns in particular look phenomenal, and I definitely appreciate the elaborate structures of the new maps. Quite a bit of winding verticality, and probably a mess of hidden chests to be disappointed by. XD
(I don’t really remember the last time a blue dropped from them, even though I tend to save cracking them after my many hours in the game.)
(Edit: Addendum) I can’t wait to see how many times I get stuck trying to jump ledges. C=

I’d like a frost thing level, draining our ā€œfrost barā€ something like ā€œwe awakened the dark frostā€ (maybe something like the conflagration but less laser-neon-seizure green, more black/grim/deep blue).

We meet an NPC (hot magic ancient mysterious chick) who gives us the ā€œAncient Fire Flaskā€ (read: another health/mana mechanic with its own bar, so health/mana/ancient fire) which will protect us from the Dark Frost.

Then we should die at one moment, be saved/resurrected by that same NPC, lore lore lore, tie it in with the Grim Dawn (it could be the 7th Grim Dawn, they’ve been happening for Millenia, and we find ancient scrolls documenting it).

Now, when we are saved after death, we should start with ZERO weapons, armor etc and lose access to the stashes (at least for that chapter, think Half-life 1, they did it and it worked). I’d wipe out our skills as well or keep the skills and enable a third mastery. Kind of a ā€œstart from scratchā€ experience within the DLC. I know I’m suggesting probably years of work but why not? I’d wait 10 years for more Grim Dawn, I’ll play Grim Dawn in the meantime.

P.S. I’d quit my job if I got a chance to work on Grim Dawn in any creative capacity.

Looks really stunning. I really like the design of the new ruins.

Have a look on their website; a couple of job up on there, but you do need to be based in America.

Those screenshots are really hot. Or should I say cold. Congrats to the designers, artists and programmers. You guys rock!

Those environments look gorgeous!

These last town screenshots remind me of old school World of Warcraft in the best way.

All of these GM will be torture until the release. Thanks for the amazing work!

Awesome screenshots. I also love the integration of Fort Ikon as a crossroad to the Kurn-Lands!

Sir, I’ll blink more than twice. Those sneak peaks are amazing and I can’t get enough of them. Also, love the environment. HOPEFULLY the mobility skills won’t get a seizure from the different elevations.

Boys you can check my history i have been asking for a snow zone for the past 8+ years.

I am absolutely elated over this

It also makes the location of the fort more believable by holding two roads. Before, it sort of felt out of place: it should have held a mountain pass if its goal was to block only the path from Darkvale to the Necropolis.

Really kicked up the ground details. Interesting how some of the ice Voronoi patterns look like under water caustics. I’ll bet this is going to slow down 4K a bit.

These washouts on the ground look really cool, for example

I was wondering, will non FoA locations also benefit from shader improvements?

Zoggin’ bootiful.

This will be an insanely good expansion (a little chtonian told me).
That fortress, Kurnhold just triggered me so hard OMG!!!
The snow and ice areas are just simply awesome! WOW!!! :star_struck:

Dope stuff. Any shot or information if you guys are updating the engine at all for this DLC? More so, any chance there will be an expansion to some of the Mod Tools that might allow us to do more, ie: create custom UI’s, etc?
