[GrimTools] Build Calculator

Question for you, Dammit. Upon clicking on the “all pet skills/attributes,” checking the major pet skills (I’m looking specifically at the Briarthorn/Primal Spirit/Blight Fiend), I see the pet attacks are based on auto-attacks (Claw and Fang Attacks or simply [Attack] and another attack that either has a small energy cost or does different damage (Tail Strike for Primal Spirit, Ground Slam (not the one you put skill points into, the one that’s right on the Briarthorn page) for the Briarthorn, and some attack called [attack] that uses 70 Energy for the Blight Fiend.

My question to you is: are the regular auto-attacks considered a different source than these small energy-using attacks? Say we have a aura/buff that gives flat Bleeding damage (hypothetically): the Briarthorn first uses Thorned Claws (which I’m assuming is the standard auto-attack), then uses Ground Slam (not the skill you put points into, the one listed on the Briarthorn page that gives a 33% chance of 615 Bleeding Damage over 3 seconds for 26/16). Is that considered one source of Bleeding (damage doesn’t stack), or two (damage does stack)? Same for Blight Fiend and Poison, if it uses [Attack] then uses Blighted Claws, do the Poison DoTs for those moves stack?

I know with player skills, DoTs from multiple sources stack, but since the auto-attack skills and the “pet energy usage” skills have exactly the same base damage, I fear both these attacks will count only as one source and thus does not stack DoT damage.

Thanks, I’ll include it in the next update.

I think you should ask in general forums regarding pet attacks and stacking. I’m not DaShiv, so have little knowledge in pet mechanics. I presume they have the usual autoattack as any other mob, and the skills listed in calc/item db are actual skills that have cooldowns etc. so they can’t be spammed and aren’t used as AA. At some point I’ll remove this option from calc/item db (or at least it won’t be working for non scalable pets) and add them to monster db and you’ll be able to view all skills there.

Hello Dammitt,

New German translations …

Can you actually use the same buff twice in-game or is this a bug in the calculator? I don’t have the components to test it myself.

Does dual wielding two weapons each socketed with a Seal of Resonance allow you to use the component skill Arcane Resonance twice for double the effect?

Here’s a build example that has the same weapon component skill listed (under permanent buffs) and applied twice.

Also, I see that “Energy Reserved” is not being applied but that’s not as big of an issue.

Yes you can use two component granted auras. Same goes for component granted skills too, you can have 2 and even bind different devotions to them.

Alright, thanks for the info. That sounds pretty awesome.

I looked into this further, the Blight Fiend seems to only have its claws auto-attack; the Necromancer stream on Youtube before the expansion shows the Blight Fiend vomiting on the targets as an additional attack, but I do not see it using that attack at all (just using the pet attack button on my summoner). It certainly appears to me that the Blight Fiend’s [Attack] that costs energy is nothing more than an additional autoattack that adds Acid damage.

By that measure, what you see on the tooltip is what you get. The auto-attack + Rotting Fumes + Blight Burst + poison devotion will all stack, but even with it fully invested, I doubt it will do any comparable damage to poison casters that have 5+ skills that do Poison damage + weapon damage + multiple devotion procs + item procs.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Is there a way to see how many points are put on a skill, when gear is giving extra skill points? Like if there’s 12 points in a skill, it’d be nice to know how many of those points came from points, and how many came from gear. I know the game doesn’t show you, but this tool should.

Press Control and Shift at the same time.

I’m constantly experiencing troubles with grimtools.com/calc -> “Upload character from save file”. My wife’s profile works normally, but 4 my characters get an error “Unable to read save file”.
Dammitt, can you look at these chars?

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, save file parser was unable to properly handle cyrillic symbols in char name. The issue is fixed now.

Thanks alot! You are the best!

Translations for all tools were updated.

Just the right time! I updated our translation yesterday.
That is all taken in properly. Thank you.

Can offline versions of calc and database be merged into a single tool?
Also random idea: “recommended” checkbox for all items. If checked, will appear in a new “recommended” filtering option. Equipped items appear in this filter too, but don’t have the checkbox unless manually checked.

Hi Dammitt,

I’ve got a problem with belt on this build, take a look:
http://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MMbMz2

I just cannot add any pref/suffixes to it. Why?

In game this belt is so good, while in grimtools, with no pref/suff it looks like $hit

Hi Dammitt,

An error has occurred in the French translation update (online tool). After checking the translation file, the “show all pet attributes and skills” parameter is well translated (see attachment).

Thanks.

[Suggestion]

I have an idea for another useful tool for community that can boost in-game trading.
For example, I need some item for my new build. But I must give something else in exchange. It’s very hard work to find the needed item in legit trade thread and build a list containing all of my legendaries to show it.

I suppose beforementioned tool to be an automatic list builder based on exchange stash. It can be link-based like calc, or profile-based, in which each user can modify his own list on demand.

Straight, simple and should not take much time (compared to calc I think).

Even more, in future this tool can be able to build it’s own database of items being currently wanted/traded and help connecting people.

can i ask where to farm the stonehide boots?

Yeah, there’s a bug that limits the number of affixes on faction crafted items to zero, when it should be one. I’ll provide a fix in the next update.

Sorry about that, I somehow incorrectly merged the translations. This will be fixed in the future update.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t have any interest, motivation or time for this.

Theoretically it can. Maybe I’ll do this in future, maybe not.
