For this question I’m feeling really stupid.
Using the calc tool to make a build, really nice, but now I’m figuring out a way to use it for real as a single player in Grim Dawn…
I even can’t locate the builds I saved, so still feeling dumb.
If you are talking about save folder location (copypasted from discord bot):
To upload your character to http://www.grimtools.com/calc/ click the ‘up arrow’ button in the upper-lefthand corner.
If you have cloud saves enabled (enabled by default) your save file will be in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata########\219990\remote\save\main_{character name}\player.gdc
Otherwise it will be in \Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save\main_{character name}\player.gdc
Updated to 1.0.4.0.
Thank you for the immediate update Dammit!
BTW, are you planning to update the offline version of grimtools and Item database also?
I’ll update it in couple days — either on the weekend or when hotfix is released, whichever happens first.
Thanks for the offline tools, dammitt!
BTW, because I don’t know where the app store all saved builds, I am trying to upload the builds to internet so I can open it in another device.
However, the program said “Unable to save build”.
Is there something wrong with the new build? I have already made sure that the app bypassed the windows firewall.
Hm, I’ve double checked and everything is working on my end. The only thing that needs access to the internet in the app is link sharing, everything else works locally.
Can you elaborate a bit more? You are trying to upload .gdc file and it says “Unable to save build”, correct? Did it work on the previous version?
I am having the same problem. Any build I try to load from a link into the offline version is a blank build, and any link I try to get for a build from the offline version results in an ‘unable to save build’ message.
Nope, I am trying to share the link of my build that I have made in the grim tools offline.
When I click the options “get link from this build”, the app says “unable to save the build”.
BTW, I have also tried with the older version of the grim tools offline, and the same problems occured.
It’s strange because previously I don’t have this problem.
Is it because the Avast antivirus that I used?
I remembered that Avast was suspicious of the new app and it uploaded the .exe file to their server for “questioning”, but I click “run anyway” so I can still use the tools.

Yeah, I found the problem. It was the result of enabling https several days ago. Basically build sharing in all current offline builds isn’t working due to this change
Here’s an updated version that doesn’t have this issue: win32 | win64
It works now. Thanks so much!!!

Dammit, is there a particular reason that pet stats for items on Grimtools are much higher than what is actually present in game? I’m consistently seeing items in Grimtools that have 50-70% more damage than is shown in game.
Mythical Rotmender’s Rings are the biggest culprit - they are listed as having an average of 252% Poison and Acid Damage, but in game, they are only showing 150-170%; the absolute highest roll I’ve seen was 195%. Would you be able to explain this deficiency?
That’s pretty simple. There’s no direct knowledge in game db which properties scale and how they scale or whether they scale at all. So I had to manually check each and every property and hardcode scaling rules for them in grimtools. But I didn’t realize that the same properties on pet bonuses may scale differently, until someone pointed to me that %total damage on pet bonuses has fixed scaling which was fixed like a month or two ago.
However very few people bother to report bugs and I have limited free time, so atm I fix scaling based on bug reports
Thanks for the reprot btw, I’ll added this issues to my todo list. I’ll get back to it eventually.
If the link of build is https:// the offline client doesn’t load the build. The only way it works is to replace https:// with http://
Thanks for the report. I’ve fixed this internally and hopefully upload the new version tomorrow.
Minor detail, but the latest 64bit offline app is flagging up as 1.1.0 and so is notifying of an available update, even though it is the latest - I’ve not tried the 32bit version
Sorry about that. It shouldn’t show up anymore.
Here’s an update for offline version that resolves issues that were caused by recent switch to https: win32 | win64 (Version 1.1.2 / GD 1.0.4.0)
hello,
since you made this nice little tool, thanks for that :D, would it also be possible to provide only the attribute points and class points that are corresponding the level?
i always get 105 attribute points, and 244 class points, even when i change the char level to 50… first i thought it’s my browser and tried the offline version, but same issue there.
thanks
