[GrimTools] Interactive World Map

appreciate the check all the same Dammitt, you’re fantastic :trophy:
will see if Zantai finds something :+1:
(still crossing fingers my games isn’t borked :crossed_fingers:)

  • Fixed an issue with left toolbar (search etc.) being unavailable in desktop version. New build can be downloaded here.

the fact that the GrimTools stuff is available as offline desktop version is freaking awesome.
so thank you sir!

i’m curious, did GT map always say it scaled to 120 on Ultimate everywhere?
i feel like it used to display the zones various correct max scaling of 106 110 112/whatever, or maybe i just imagined that and it’s just reading from the max possible game scaling and not the actual applied ingame zone scaling?

These numbers are from the game, so it’s supposed to be actual zone scaling.
I believe in the past on ultimate the numbers were different, but perhaps in one of the patches level scaling was changed.

no idea what changed/what they did in a patch, but actual ingame scaling is def different still (lower), just killed fabbius on ultimate in cronley’s lair and he was a mere 106

I’ll quote myself. 120 is absolute maximum, you can’t reach it cause your level is capped at 100 and mob levels can’t be offset by 20.

I don’t remember exactly, but I believe there’s some extra offset based on mob rarity, so if you are level 100, then Bosses are +3, Nemesis are +6 and Super Bosses are +12, well or smth of sorts, but don’t quote me on that, I don’t remember the specifics.

“Grim Dawn, keeping things simple”
cheers for clarification Dammitt,

Why can’t you choose a language for the offline / desktop version? Can you solve this problem?

If I include all languages in the offline version build, the resulting zip file would be around 5-6gb, due to the fact that each language has its own map images because they have localized text on them. And building separate version for each locale is too troublesome, so I’ve decided to stick to english for now. This might change in future though.

Здравствуйте - на сайте смотрю есть карта со всем сопутствующим на русском языке - но при загрузке ток английская версия - где можно русскоязычную скачать ? ну или хотя бы файлик с переводом что бы докинуть к карте - заранее спасибо )))

Currently desktop version of the map is English only. I might add versions for all locales in the future.

Forgive me if I’m being ignorant, but is there no option to hide the markers of things we have already done? Such as lore notes?

After uploading my file I expected all lore notes already tagged in the checklist to disappear so I could just use the map and see at a glance the notes I had not yet picked, but so far I only get the standard option which is showing all notes, even those already tagged as having been picked up.

The map is separate from checklist and you can only toggle all markers of the same category in there. Currently there’s no way to hide lore notes that you already found.

Thanks for this utility, sorry for not reading 154 posts if this is duplicate but in version gd-map-1.7.0-v1.2.0.3-en-win64, the following options overwrite each other on the map:

level limits
area names
challenge areas

if you enable any two or all three, their text appears in the same location on the map making them difficult to read. For example, disable all then enable “area names”. Pan the map until you see “hallowed hill” and then enable “level limits”, you will see the name is now hidden behind the level limits. If you now enable “challenge areas”, it appears on top and interferes with the previous two options.

Also, it doesn’t matter what zoom level you have the map. I zoomed in and out and the three options remained on top of each other.

Yes, this isn’t a problem if you only enable one option at a time but it is also nice to have all the information available as you pan the map looking for an adventure.

Suggestion:

Since you already use color overlay for level information, remove the text and create a key along the side of the map (perhaps on the left where you have the three buttons “markers” “areas” "search) that has a small colored square and the level information next to it. Players can then pan around and see “oh, blue is Normal: 12-15 and green is Normal 18-120”

This mainly a technical limitation because all texts in these overlays are rendered, so they are basically a part of the image. I can’t think of an easy way to render them separately to prevent overlapping. So the only solution to the problem now is to keep only one or two of the overlays active.
