Hello everyone!
I made this guide to help people that, like me, like to develop builds on the fly and can’t decide where to put their attribute points. This is not a guide to help you allocate all your attribute points, but to help you have enough points to meet the requirements for all high level equipment.
So, below I listed the maximum requirements for each armor and weapon type in the game. Most info was searched on Graceful Dusk, but it hasn’t been updated in some time, so I checked all armor in game to confirm.
These requirements are from gear that require level 75 (epics, legendaries and monster infrequents). Common gear that roll affixes stop at level 72 and have a bit lower requirements. Faction gear stops at level 70, having even lower requirements. Belts are an exception, their requirements are independent from the armor given or level and vary a lot.
So what do I do with this information?
Well, you plan the minimum attributes you will need. You may use a mix level 65~75 gear in late game, but it’s always good to be able to equip all the equipment designed to your char archetype, should you find a new interesting item or change your mind.
In short:
Caster need 618 physique, 715 spirit and if you want daggers, add 341 cunning. If you want shields instead of off-hands, you need 707 physique and only 575 spirit.
Light armored dudes with piercing weapons need 618 physique, 531 cunning, 326 spirit.
Light armored dudes with blunt weapons need 618 physique, 326 spirit.
Tanks need 970 physique and 326 spirit.
But how do I plan?
You have a total of 90 attribute points (which add 8 to the attribute you choose), start with 50 in each and get more attributes from mastery bars.
Here is what each mastery gives per mastery bar level
With this info you should be able to plan for requirements.
Let’s do an example:
I’m an Elementalist (Shaman+Demolitionist). I will invest 50 points on Shaman’s mastery bar and 20 on Demo’s. I want to use Heavy Armor and Two-Handed Ranged Weapons. So my requirements are 970 physique (heavy armor), 522 cunning (two-handed ranged) and 326 spirit (high level jewelry).
Shaman bar’s will give 504, 503, 503 = 200 physique, 150 cunning, 150 spirit.
Demolitionist bar’s will give 203.5, 203.5, 203 = 70 physique, 70 cunning, 60 spirit.
Already we have 320 physique, 270 cunning, 260 spirit.
We need 970 physique, so (970-320)/8 = 82
We need 522 cunning, so (522-270)/8 = 32
And 326 spirit, so (326-260)/8 = 9
Is our build doable? No! Not without gear help:
Gear that reduce requirements:
There are plenty of gear that reduce requirements ranging from affixed greens to legendaries and relics. I am not listing them all here (at least not for now). But for the example above, let’s see some options.
Tinker’s Ingenuity (belt) gives -15% to physique requirements for armor
Empowered Quickdraw Gloves gives -15% cunning requirements for ranged weapons
And let’s say we have a polished emerald equipped (+8 to each attribute) and a mark of illusions (+12 spirit)
Is the build doable now?
Physique (9700.85 – 328)/8 = 63
Cunning (5220.85 – 278)/8 = 21
Spirit (326-280)/8 = 6
Since 63+21+6 = 90, WE DID IT! We will be able to equip everything in our crazy, heavy armor ranged build.
Skills that help:
There are a few skills that help with attributes:
Soldier’s Military Conditioning gives extra physique
Soldier’s Veterancy reduces physique requirement for armor
Arcanist’s Inner Focus gives more spirit
Nightblade’s Anatomy of Murder gives more cunning
Except for Veterancy, you can use Grim Calc to see the efects of these skills in your attributes.
Conclusion:
I hope this guide helps people with planning their attribute distribution. Relying on requirement reduction and attributes from gear or components to meet the requirement for other gear is not ideal, but may be considered for some creative builds or to meet the spirit requirement for jewelry.
Putting your build on Grim Calc helps planning since it will show how much in each attribute you will have from mastery bars, skills or invested attributes, then you compare with the maximum requirements tables here, see if you meet the requirements and you are good to go!
