Seeing that Ultos devo dealt with magic stuff and required Reds and Blues while viper gave Red and Blue points and magic stuff as well, I used to take them both as a newer player. Heck, I even saw taking both from a popular guide that I took inspiration from. This was before I realized (true) percent RR’s didn’t stack.
My suggestion is to make Ultos give subtractive RR, as the current one not stacking with something that looks to synergize with it so well weirdly does not. This would also fairly buff lightning builds against end game lightning c***-blockers such as Grava’Thul, Iron Maiden, and Valdaran.
Possible conflicts of interest with the author: None that I know of, I certainly do not have a build that I’m hard-selling to be capable of anything and everything which I had the audacity to compare to two top 20 builds in an obnoxiously biased way, which I also happen to have made a gazillion performance showcase YouTube vids for. None at all.
the difference is in application
Viper %reduced requires weapon dmg to apply, Ultos does not
Basically means Ultos will work for many casters where viper might not
Ahh, I didn’t think of it that way. That difference makes sense. If the devs would intend to keep that design, perhaps there should at least be clarification that they don’t stack? As of now it’s very unintuitive.
Yooo! I didn’t expect you would quickly reply here haha! It’s nice to meet you, it was your guide that gave me the courage to start a Hardcore Druid game hehe. I really love the leveling breakdown by 10’s and how you didn’t give any spoilers.
Thank you for your guide. I’m sure you helped a lot of people get started
As for your reply… Sorry I didn’t understand, can you rephrase? Or did you mean that Ultos could fulfill the role of being a much longer %RR?
Edit: I forgot to say, I’ve been linking to your guide in my own for a few days now (with credit, of course) ever since I implemented the leveling section of my build. Let me know if there’s any problem.
Hi there! Nice to meet you too buddy! And thank you! I’m glad and honored to see that my build was an inspiration for that badass endgame druid of yours, really powerful flick!
Well, about the %RR (multiplicative RR if i’m not mistaken), i used both viper and hand of ultos bcs i was not really sure if viper’s %RR was active for just 3 seconds and no more, so i chose to use both sources of %RR just to be sure the resist reduction were being applied uptime, even knowing they don’t stack, i’m not really sure about the viper’s %RR duration even today
Ahh I see. I just assumed Viper and Ultos fevos were different before (as seeing your guide’s title had a much older game version), similar to how Korvan Storm Halberd dropped so commonly back then but is not so recommended to farm now for beginners
