when i first started the game, it was fine, yet still somewhat slow at time. The running animation of your character felt and still feels especially slow, especially compared to it´s spiritual predecessor Titan Quest. Also, in alot of cases, even in the highest difficulty in the Skeleton Key dungeons, some builds just run through it without any mobs touching them because they die that fast and some builds are slower tank builds. They have an even slower gameplay, knowing that most enemies can´t scratch them but the enemies die for certain.
After a while of annoyance i started to download cheat Engine to speed up the game to 1.5x… or even the redicilous x5 because a) it´s redicilous and fun to mess around and b) i have a fun based retalliation build and it´s still slower with x5 then top notch dps builds at x1 and it´s even that unoptimized for just the fun factor that i streight up lose to regenerator ranged units since i don´t have reflet stuff with me and my main damage is… non existent.
But when i started to do some builds i just wanted to get through the difficulties faster, i knew what i was doing, i knew how to dodge and position but everything felt even slower now that i played through the game a couple times (i have 3 lvl 100 chars).
When the Titan Quest anniversary edition came out and used a “Game Speed” option i was simply amazed. There were 3 options. Normal (1x) Fast (1.5x) and Very fast (2x). I loved it. I constantly played on Fast, it felt perfect. It also reminded me that i also use 1.5x on GD with cheat engine because for me the gamespeed feels perfect that way. The main problem that i have is that the game crashes fairly often. About 1-2 times every 3 hours and a legit option which does not crash the game would be phenomenal.
This question must have been asked hundreds of times, I guess.
I’d like to have a gamespeed option, too. It doesn’t even need to be as fast as TQ: Anniversary. I’d be happy with 1.25 for “Fast” and 1.5 for “Very Fast”, too.
There are probably engine limitations though. I imagine, running through Malmouth would be a choppy experience with higher game speeds.
GD is definitely faster than TQ, you must compare it to the sped up version of the Anniversary Edition.
Personally I think the right speed would be somewhere between the regular TQ speed and the next higher speed level of the AE, a range GD falls into.
With the AE speeds I ended up with regular speed again because the other speeds were just too ridiculous…
If you want that in GD, use a mod or just fast-track through the areas and skip optional parts instead of exploring everything. That saves you more time than fast walking speed would
You can always download Cheat Engine, connect it to Grim Dawn (after you launch the program, of course) and increase the speed by however you want. I leveled one character with that, managed to do two difficulties in a day (well it was a pseudo speed run, but even though it’s hard to do two difficulties in about 14 hours). Speed x2 was enough for me to play normally, sometimes was able to put x3 - x5 and it was super cool. I believe you could even go x10 if you had an aura build that kills everything (well okay, most things) in one hit (damage tick).
Ah right mods exist, i forgot that completely. But dosn´t the mods get outdated everytime a new update arives, therefore having to wait to them being updated would feel slow again. But yeah forgetting about mods was my mistake.
I guess since there are mods, it´s no needed to have it in the actual game. But i still would like to have it be a legit option rather then needing a mod, that is the whole point of my post ^.^
Not really, i have played TQ when it came out for multiple hundreds of hours and i picked it up for a good 50 hours every couple years. When i heard the new version came out i was amazed and got it, even played the first 20 hours without the speedup because i haven´t noticed the option, therefore i have still a good personal comperison.
The reason why GD feels faster then TQ to most people is because TQ has way less big fast enemies and most attacks have big windups while GD can feel like a bullet hell game in some instances.
I personally don´t mind it but i still would like to have it be faster.
Sir, i have to tell you to get out of your chair and blow into this device, you seem to be drinking and writing because your entire post ist allready answered in my question. Therfore i can safely say that you haven´t even read the entire post. Either that or you are trying way to hard to troll.
Well i not only called you a troll, i said you either missed the whole 2 paragraphs which are connected through the fact that i talked about cheat engine and what problems i have with it which are about 40% of the whole post OR you could be trolling, again, you are ignoring about half of the aspact of what i wrote. Atleast kudos for you to be consistant about it.
Well, I don’t want to use Cheat Engine but thank you for the clarification. No legit speedup for me then. But it’s fine though. It’s not like the gamespeed is terrible. Would have been nice for the early game. The gamespeed is fine when my chars have their 130%+ Run speed.
Exactly, i am 100% on that, i don´t want to use cheat engine, it crashes my game. it would so so sad if it wouldn´t work on that engine just to give players one more option.
Also there is an aspact to Cheat engine which makes it even more difficult. It dosn´t work with multiplayer. When friends join my game or i join theirs, we seem to stutter, dosn´t matter who has or has not turned it on.
That is a point which i completly forgot to mention in the first play, man i´m bad at this
But yeah, that is another reason why a legit ingame option would be fantastic.
Have you looked at it? That mod does several things that are in no way related to “higher game speed”. It buffs up the character by removing the devotion and attack speed cap, which doesn’t just speed up the game, it also makes your character A LOT stronger than it would normally be.
IIRC the devs think the game speed is fine so there probably won’t be a speed setting, but I’m totally up for it to have an official 1.25x speed and 1.5x speed option though… (maybe even 2x speed lol)
