Having trouble with skill special animation, seems to have no effect

I should probably just start a thread that I can update with my daily noob questions.

I have a skill_attackattackprojectspawnpet and I want to try out different animations, would ideally like to use a Shoot animation (im trying to make a mastery based off of Zarya from OW), however no matter what I pick it seems to use the same ‘throw’ animation. I think before trying a few animations it was set to ‘Throw’, if that matters.

Are there some limitations with skillSpecialAnimationName based on the weapon you are using or the skill template?

If you look in the animation file for the pc you can see all the weapon types have their own animation groups. You have to pick the right animation name for right weapon type to do what you’re trying to do. “Shoot” is not an animation name afaik so you’d have to add one if you haven’t already.
