Hello all

I’m not one who typically gets involved on Forums, but having lurked around here for quite awhile; I must say that the community for Grim Dawn seems very supportive and inviting. So thanks to the overwhelming majority of you who make this place special  If it wasn’t for you and the awesome that is Grim Dawn, I wouldn’t be opening up.

About me (for those who want the gratuitous extra reading). I’ve been a PC and Tabletop gamer since I was a little kid in the 80’s with a 386 Tandy and an IBM XT computer(s). I grew up reading my dad’s collection of Conan the Barabarian (the Pirate, the Warrior, the Thief, the Swindler, the Used Car Salesman, etc) stories and Frank Frazetta art books; while he (dad) had Molly Hatchet, AC/DC, Black Sabbath or something along those lines always playing in the background. It was only later into my teens that I realized the only Conan stories really worth reading are those by its creator, Robert E. Howard. Him, H.P. Lovecraft, and Clark Ashton Smith are my top 3 (of the old school/ founding father Weird Tales) writers of modern horror and sci/fi. The setting and world of Grim Dawn is something that (in my humble opinion) would translate perfectly into the pages or alongside the works of those authors.

I’m an ex (and happy never to return) video game industry worker. I helped develop and support the Funcom Inc. titles “Anarchy Online” and “Age of Conan”. I left the industry in 2008 for my own sanity, (sure there’s a long version as to why, and I’m sure it could potentially make for an interesting “our band could be your life” style of read. But for the sake of the ‘who would really give a st on a forum board’ factor and the 'isn’t this introduction already fking verbose enough’ factor, I’ll wrap this up now.

Thanks to Crate for an awesome alpha release, and again to the GD community members for the great information that can be found on here.

Welcome to the forums.

I’m actually a bit curious about your experience in the video game industry and why you left.

Anyways, hope you enjoy your stay here

Welcome!
Are you by any chance a fan of Berserk? That would make you double the welcome
Have fun

Welcome to the forums!

hi and welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy it here

Welcome

Thank you guys for the kind words and welcome!

Pendragon: I am indeed a huge Berserk/ Kentaro Miura fan!! We should start an off topic thread about it, if there isn’t one already  Simply put, Berserk is to fantasy manga, what Cormac McCarthy’s novel ‘Blood Meridian’ is to the standard Wild West Cowboy paperback.

DeMasked, as you have probably noticed I (for better or worse) get too wordy for my own good. That said, If your curiosity still stands; I will gladly tell you about my industry experience. Be warned, if you are looking to get into the industry (or you already work in it, and you just think it’s great),well I’m candid about my views; I’m very ‘pro-saving’ you the time and money that Full Sail will not, I’m very anti-getting into contractual bed with Eidos, and well, as it’s never wise to have things that others may misconstrue as dirty laundry lying out n’ about in the open on the internet (despite if your gut says ‘it’s old news and it’s nothing, who would really care now’)… just shoot me a private note and we’ll go from there.

Nice to hear, Berserk is definitely a work of art, to define it as “manga” would be underestimating and oversimplifying a perfect mix of elements that are quite rare to find nowadays.
I am not sure if there is an OT section on this forum (I also subscribed recently), but I’ll be there if you start the topic
