I started playing GD again after a pause, since it’s the game that feels most like D2 to me, my favorite ARPG so far. I played D2 online for a few years, and I also played the Median XL mods quite a lot.
I’m currently playing GD with 2 HC chars, one Cabalist (level 66) and one Vindicator (level 50).
The only problem has been to find people to play with. I enjoy SP but it would also be fun to play with others now and then. The MP player list in the game is often thin, and games are often PW-locked. Is there a group of people to play with on HC?
It’s strange they release two versions with different MP platforms. Is there any pressure on steam/GOG to release a common version that works the same for both vendors…? I had no idea about this when buying the game, and I’ve been wondering why MP is rather empty.
Well, they sort of have to since Steam is mainly DMR while GOG is DMR free. You can certainly contact GOG and say you’d like to crossplay with Steam friends, but whether it’ll happen or not I don’t know. There have been other people on the forum complaining that they can’t crossplay with their Steam friends.
The point that Medierra made a little while ago which relates to this also is that Crate only sells about 2 copies a week on GOG while they sell a couple of hundred on Steam. Being a small development team they have to prioritise their time and making the game crossplay at the moment isn’t really going to be economically worth it for them. Zantai said that only around 10% of players multiplay the game so how many of that percentage are GOG players I don’t know.
And it does say in GD’s GOG description that it can only be played with other GOG users.
