Hello from a D3 player looking for something more

Hi all,

Name’s Jeff, but I go by LordCaric in games and I’m from the US. I’ve been playing Diablo 3 (Hardcore) since Sep. 2012, having played D1 since it came out and D2 (yeah I’m getting old). I’ve played a lot of Starcraft and RPG’s like Neverwinter Nights and a few others along the line (never WoW). I don’t get to play a lot of games due to work and family, so I pick and choose and usually stick with a game for while but tend to be a more casual type of player.

I’ve tried POE but it felt too clunky for my liking and D3 is getting to be the same old, same old.

But then I heard about Grim Dawn and started checking it out about a month ago, watching some videos and also heard about it from other D3 players that I talk to.

GD looks like my cup of tea and a few of my friends from D3 are also going to give it a try and I showed it to a few others. Hoping to see some of those friends here, meet some new friends and try this game out before release. Any advice for a noob like me would be appreciated. I plan on playing Hardcore too once the game releases. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, LordCaric.

You can take a look at this area for build discussions. Lots of great information to help you build different types of characters.

Also, I would recommend reading over the Game Guide.

Hello LordCaric, you are welcome!

Hi, and welcome :).

Hello LordCaric,

and welcome to the forum and grim dawn

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the great tips (been real busy with work)! Making my purchase this evening and will be installing the game. Going to be reading over some of these guides too. Looking forward to jumping in!

imo, the most underrated thing you can do as a new player is go back and read the past half dozen or so patch notes. a lot of the class/skill specific stuff won’t mean much until you actually play the game, but the rest can be pretty insightful.

I will definitely read some of those. I read a little bit the other day, but want to learn the game some more. So far I’ve leveled a Demolitionist up to 10 in Hardcore (normal) to get the feel of things. I think it will make more sense the more I learn about the game itself, thanks for the tip!
