I’ve been playing Grim Dawn since early access, so since it’s my first post i’d like to thank the Crate team for making this great, great game !
I started modding last weak. So far so good, i managed to create a new mastery with new skills, edit .tex and .pfx, use tools etc…I should be able to finish my mastery as i imagined it thanks to all the tutorials and posts by the community (huge thank !).
Next step is I want to edit animations. Nothing to fancy, i don’t want to mess with attack animation as it can interfere with skill and dps from what i read. I want to edit the off hand arm’s position with a one handed gun (basically make the off hand arm further away from the body for the idle and run animation).
All the stuff i read concerning animations are 5 or 6 years old, so possibly not up to date, and i didn’t find anything talking about the way to edit animations.
Is it possible (i read contradictory things about it) ? If so how can i do it (what tools and what procedure) ?
thanks (and sorry for the spelling mistakes and possibly bad English)
The variable “TEX” in the mshtool script is set to read-only and it conflict with 3ds max if i understand correctly. I don’t know how to edit the script without breaking it.
So I tried another way, I created the .anm file in the asset manager (assets → new → animation), i loaded the .max files created with 3ds and the aif file extracted with the animationcompiler tool from the original hero01_gun1h_run.anm (i’m not sure about this step, i don’t know if loaded the original aif to a new animation will work correctly, i’m not sure what .aif file are exactly). It did create an .anm file, but a blank one (1kb) that can’t be open in viewer.
What am i doing wrong ?
Thanks.
EDIT : ok i managed to make it work. This time i used the hero00.max in the “pc_rig” given by the devs in an older post (thanks) instead of the “import” tool of the mshtool script. This require to make an animation from scratch but it’s feasible. Then create an .amn in assetmanager and edit the anm_malepc.dbr. Work well in game, now i need time to make proper animation.
I know i’m a little bit late in modding grim dawn but it’s very fun and for now rewarding.
ok i’m struggling to make the animation work properly, the cloak tail freezes when i’m using a new animation in game, like if there was no physics in it :
In 3ds i can’t edit the bone clothsdrivers in the motion set either, it seems related…
