Help in starting out witchblade.

My second build so far.

Build:
https://grimcalc.com/build/1006-0NRxwH

This witchblade uses Dreeg’s Evil Eye as my main source of damage. i took Blood Burst and Focused Gaze for AoE and Heavier damage output. Curse of Frailty with Vulnerability against strong monsters and groups. Bloody Pox and Sigil of Consumption for Heroes and groups. Summon Familiar with Mend Flesh and Summon Hellhound for assistance.

I use Candence with Discord as my primary attack and has Solael’s Witchfire as a Passive.

For Constellations, I took Eye of The Guardian.

I’d like this witchblade to use poison as its primary way of dealing damage while also having lifesteal and tankiness. I’d also like to have more skills of the soldier to be used.

Any tips on this?

Edit: I’m still not sure what kind of weapon to use but Eye of the Guardian is tempting me to go Melee-Shield or Dual-wield Melee although I’m nervous to try it.

You seem to be making the typical mistake, way too spread out points and not enough mastery. Little of everything is worse than a lot of few things.

So you want to focus on acid/poison damage? Lose Solael’s Witchfire for now, you can add it later when you can add chaos/vitality on the side. Lose Cadence, it’s physical/bleed/internal trauma damage. Discord doesn’t make it any better for you, acid/poison is not elemental. Also those summons, don’t spend more points on them. You can keep them around for a while if you want but since you aren’t focusing on them, they will become weak soon and you should lose them then if not sooner.

Focus on maxing out Occultist mastery and get Blood of Dreeg/Aspect of Guardian on the way. You have too many points on Curse of Frailty and Vulnerability. You need only one point on Curse of Frailty as you aren’t going for physical dmg, you can add more later if you want bleeding on the side. Vulnerability isn’t that effective yet, resistances aren’t an issue on normal difficulty so you could lose both skills for now. Focus on Dreeg’s.

There isn’t really synergy with soldier mastery if you want acid/poison, nightblade would be much better option. But you can use soldier to make you tankier, sure.

I’ve changed my build to be like this:
http://grimcalc.com/build/1006-NCkcUQ

I maxed out Dreeg’s Evil Eye as early as I can because I think it will help me in the future. Once I level up I plan to take Terrifying Gaze as crowd control and added damage.

My next constellation would probably be the Rat or Akeron’s Scorpion though I don’t know what my next constellation would be.

Any other tips after this?

A very easy way for poison builds/Occultist to level is via component skills poison bomb(Mutagenic ichor) and Dreegs Gaze(Mark of Dreeg) along with transmuted DEE

Better, that discord is still completely useless for you though. Couple points in cadence is okay I guess if you don’t want to be 100% caster, but if you want to be in melee range, soldier physical/chaos/vitality build with Solael’s Witchfire or acid/poison dual blade/shadow strike nightblade would be better fit.

As for devotions, anything with +% acid/poison damage and health are for you. Rat and scorpion are both good options. You should work your way to manticore, abomination and behemoth in the end.

What if I’d like to do a Poison/Acid and Chaos build? What kind of build should I make and what weapons/equipment should I use?

Here is one build that should fit your needs: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34095

Modify as you like.

I’m still having a hard time in playing this build so I’ve decided to change it from a Dreeg’s Evil Eye caster to a Solael’s Witchfire candence build using 1H melee or ranged with shield. This could probably help in making synergy in the two class.
