I started a game with a friend recently, since he got the game on the summer sale. I wanted to show him the new UI, so i went into the 1.3 test branch, and entered with the character i had with him.
After switching back again to the default branch, the game crashes (logs attached) when loading the main menu.
I asken my friend to switch to the test branch too and try hosting, but i get “unmaching game version” error when trying to join.
Is the only way to fix this to create a new character? I don’t even know how to delete the “corrupted” one since Steam keep restoring it, since cloud save is enabled.
v1.3 saves are not backwards compatible
you either need to remove the save, or replace it with backups you should have made before entering the playtest
alternatively you stay on v1.3 playtest until it goes live and your save carries over
can be if you don’t both own same expansions, or is in a custom mod the other isn’t
that should normally work, but maybe there is some hickup with the ptr interaction and that command in MP/the matchmaker, wouldn’t know
could be worth a playtest bug report if you’re both on v1.3, verified files and no mods could cause the conflict/“everything should match”
there shouldn’t be any steam workshop mods so that’s not it
It’s more if you’re hosting a custom game, or using like a base mod, ex Smash 'n Grab from nexus etc, both sides/host+joiner also need to have such mods.
Tools like dpyes, item assistant shouldn’t matter, just actual mods that go in the GD mods folder if doing customs MP
(or if hosting a Crucible dlc game too i guess)
if/when you uninstall expansion to test if that work on v1.3 matchmaker, perhaps also do a file verification both you and friend
and if it doesn’t work make a note in the bug section
Possibly even do make a note if it does work with uninstalled expansion, since it should work just with gdx commands normally atleast
It would seem like disabling DLCs from Steam does indeed evade the version mismatch error, and works as intended, i was able to join him. Here’s the bug report.
